Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan Offered Male Lead Roles in Upcoming jTBC Sageuk Drama My Country

Talk about doubling down on two of the fasting rising K-actors in 2018 for a challenging project for both. Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan have been offered the male lead roles in upcoming jTBC early 2019 sageuk drama titled My Country. They play best friends turned enemies by their status and opportunities in life, and form a friendship and love triangle with the female lead. It’s a dual male role drama and sounds a lot like Warrior Baek Dong Soo which worked to catapult both male leads Ji Chang Wook and Yoo Seung Ho to the next level of their careers. Yang Se Jong did well with this year’s warmhearted second chances drama Thirty But Seventeen while Woo Do Hwan did his best in The Great Seducer which flirted with majorly low ratings. Both are pegged as the next big K-drama male lead and I hope they accept My Country and push themselves with a sageuk. The drama is from the PD of Nice Guy and Just Between Lovers with the script by the writer of Inspiring Generation.

  • I love the both of them! For Woo Do Hwan, his best work was in Mad Dog, he was very good! The Great Seducer was a disaster...

Warrior Baek Dong Soo was a great sageuk but the character of Ji Chang Wook was pretty weak, but Yoo Seung Ho was incredible.

This year, I didn't watch sageuk, but next year it looks like there will be nice ones like the adaptation of Masquerade. The teasers look great!

  • Kim won suk never work with tvn(asadal) cause he was with jtbc. I see. Just hope he getting success with sageuk and jtbc.???

  • Who is the female lead? Any ideas? I’m biased more towards WDH as I haven’t seen any of YSJ work. I just hope the female lead chosen has enough chemistry spark to light up a Christmas tree! At this moment I can’t think of anyone in particular cos I might jinx it and Jang Do Yeon gets offered the role. Arrgghh!!!

  • The PD is good. The actors are alright. The weak link is the scriptwriter.Inspiring generation was not a well written drama. It was the actors that hard carried the drama.

    • Inspiring Generation's scriptwriter? Oh god.

I like both actors though, Woo Do Hwan did well in Save Me and Mad Dog even if Great Seducer was terrible (marred at least partly by bad female lead casting to accompany the awful writing), and Yang Se Jong has done really good work these last couple of years.

    • Didn't the writter change in the middle of Inspiring Generation?

I liked the beginning with Kwak Dong Yun as a child lead.

  • I have not seen WDH in a saguek... I would prefer Kwak Dong Yeon being offered the role, he is long overdue to be casted as a male lead imo.

    • I want him to reunite with almost all his leading ladies, lol - or with Seo Ye Ji, Ryu Hwa Young and Moon Ga Young anyway.
