I only watched a few J-doramas this year in 2018 but most of the ones I did made the top 10 list of most highly rated J-doramas on China’s massive Douban platform. With hundreds of thousands of votes, forensic medical dorama Unnatural took top ranking for this year and I totally agree because I was thoroughly addicted. Also on the list is the second season of criminal defense dorama 99.9% Criminal Lawyer, and a few slots down is the grift dorama Confidence Man JP. The only other dorama I loved this year wasn’t terribly popular being the adaptation of the Hana Yori Dango sequel called Hana Nochi Hare but it’s so cute for those wanting throwback shoujo feels. Check out the full top 10 rankings below!

Pornographer? Wth? Lol how appropriate for a drama name....
It was a pretty explicit drama so... (the drama was based off a BL manga)
And one of the main leads was a porn author, hence the title
Unnatural is so good that China decides to do a remake (totally bad idea).
that will be good idea if they just take the style, theme and topic, with not Same the story
Non Chugakusei Nikki? It was one of my favourite with No Todome Kiss that was very weird but pretty nice.
I'm still not over Chugakusei Nikki, it's one of the best of 2018 No Todome Kiss was crazy but I loved it too.
OMG I’m so happy to see Pornographer on the list, it was my favorite jdrama this year!!! The casting, directing and writing were on point. It seemed to be mostly ignored in Japan but I’m glad it got some love in China.
Is there a list of the most highly rated jdramas by the Japanese public?
Glad to see Ossans love on the list. Loved that drama :D
I think a lot of Japanese dramas of the past year have been unexpectedly good, they dare to make dramas with unique and unusual themes. Even kyo kara ore wa too, (thank to genji lol)
Im mostly agree with that list. if they added gibo no musume then everything perfect.
so many good jdrama in 2018. The themes were so broad. from family, to gay's love to forbidden love between teacher and student.
The most surprising for me was Kyo Kara Ore Wa. I mean, its so bizzare (the costume etc) yet its so good.
Unnatural was good so I'm glad it made it to the list. Other dramas I found good and that I think deserve to be on the list is Chugakusei Nikki, Stepmother and stepdaughter's blues and Dairenai.
Just finished watching Beautiful Life from year 2000; 11 episodes that was such a tear jerker absolutely soul satisfying drama. I’m loving what surprises and storyline J dramas have to offer to pacify my swollen heart broken self after watching my staple of K dramas. A quick fix to get back to my usual.
Omg, Pornographer is so good! I'm so happy to see it on the list!
