Looks like CJ Entertainment has its eyes on drama land after conquering the big screen with hit movies in the last few years. CJ’s wholly owned production house Studio Dragon has acquired the indie drama producer G Est, which has under it’s contract screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, PD Kim Kyu Tae, and PD Hong Jong Chan. Noh Hee Kyung has on her resume critically beloved dramas Live, That Winter, The Wind Blows, It’s Okay, It’s Love, The World They Live in, and many more. I have a love/hate appreciation of PD Kim’s directed works including the dramas penned by Noh Kee Kyung above and mega ratings hit IRIS. PD Hong is making a name for himself having directed Live Up to Your Name, Dear My Friends, and the upcoming Her Private Life. This sounds like a really smart acquisition by CJ who has said it will let the team continue to work at their own pace and expects 1-2 dramas a year.
