This totally looks like SBS is trying to do their own version of Sky Castle which is fine but the writing better be airtight. Casting is confirming and production heads underway for the next Mon-Tues drama Penthouse, with a clown car full of names in the cast. Starring Kim So Yeon, Lee Ji Ah, Eugene, Shin Eun Kyung, Eom Ki Joon, Bong Tae Gyu, Yoon Jong Hoon, Park Eun Seok, and Yoon Joo Hee, the drama centers around people living in the highest echelons of South Korean wealthy society and others doing what they can to climb up there and is described as a real estate and education battle between the female leads. The drama is the reunion of the screenwriter and PD of Last Empress so expect major makjang when the drama premieres in October after Do You Like Brahms?

Lolz, it is such a shallow comment. I don’t care about writer and director of the tv shows when I watch Korean drama. If I was a newborn baby, then you could be an infertile egg. Talk with respect and you will receive respect.
Even if they have crazy makjang style, or whatever it takes to bring the crazy rating, if the audiences are into it and tune in then it’s their success.

Wacky Last Empress and pretentious SKY Castle in the same sentence? Nah. I hate to admit which one of those I enjoyed more, and Shin Eun-kyung had a lot to do with it.
I really didn't like Last Empress and Return. Both dramas were pretty disapointing.
Great cast, veteran actors, all the ladies have been leading roles ...so i just need to wait and see . I agree with @sayaris , The last empress and Return have both an interesting start but after as we said in my country " c'est parti en cacahuètes " !
I enjoyed The Last Empress and this seems to be TLE reboot in a penthouse. I expect revenge and backstabbing with ladies at the center and men as pawns. I also expect amazing house interior design. TLE set design was great and the palace interior is one of my favourite drama sets. It looked traditional and luxurious.
Several of the main cast are from TLE and Return. Initially, Shin Sung Rok was part of the cast too. Unfortunately he step down due to schedule issues but his role is replaced by Uhm Ki Joon who is awesome.

Yes UKJ is a great actor too. I was a bit sad when SSR bowed out since I was looking forward to his reunion with Last Empress and Return team. I'm glad he was replaced by Uhm Ki Joon, another great actor.
A drama by Last Empress writer and with the female cast it has, they need a charismatic and exceptional actor to balance it out. Earlier on, even Oh Man Seok was in talks for another role in Penthouse. Imagine the musical power if Oh Man Seok is in this too. Lol
