The Netflix original series Sweet Home premiered this weekend, adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name and packed full of big names and IT rising faces. Song Kang plays depressed and suicidal high school student Hyun who moves into grungy apartment complex Green Home and and soon after the world turns apocalyptic as some people start to turn into actual monsters. I ended up marathoning the entire webtoon in one night, my brain was so tired but I couldn’t stop reading. It’s not amazingly well written but it’s interesting gripping in the psychological development and analysis of all the characters, and scary as heck with genuine and large body counts. It’s like a zombie movie where survivors try to stay alive while hiding out but start to run out of food. There are tons of memorable characters into Lee Do Hyun‘s young smart Hyuk, Lee Jin Wook who plays the gangster/cop, and Park Kyu Young‘s rock girl Ji Soo. Lee Shi Young plays a new character not in the webtoon which is fine but I’m one episode into the webtoon and find it solid but am concerned about the rumblings from readers who have finished the webtoon and don’t like all the wholesale changes made to characters personalities and things that happen. So far it’s good enough to keep watching especially with veterans including Kim Gap Soo as Gil Seop the old man and Kim Sang Ho as Mcgyver Dusik.

They are all looking super fine in these promos. Just checked out Sweet Home yesterday and what was supposed to be a one-hour watch of the first episode turned into a 10- hour marathon of this gorgeous, heart wrenching, scary a.f. drama that hurt my heart in the best of ways. It helps that I never read the web toon so I could appreciate the drama for its content as a standalone production. It’s a horror story done right, full of heart, making you genuinely care for and empathize with its characters while it scares you sh!tless and has plenty of character growth alongside its special effects.I loved it and can’t recommend it highly enough. I’m onboard for a sequel and I read that there’s talks for a sequel in 2021. Consider me hooked! Kudos to cast and crew for doing such an amazing job!
Those readers who are so narrow minded disliking all the changes. What are they thinking? If they don’t like the changes, why don’t they just stick to reading the webtoon.
The readers who loved the webtoon have no problems with changes, their issue is that the changes were all detrimental to the story and ruined what was better written characters and arcs in the webtoon. Change itself is never bad, only if it was changed and made it worse off. I think that is a very valid complaint, but I have to watch the entire webtoon to see if I agree.
Agreed with koala, well said
What an arrogant comment. People who read the original source obviously are excited to see the adaption on the screen, and obviously they hope it will be faithful. They watch it because they are curious how it will turn out and even if they notices changes in the beginning, they hope they will like it overall in the end but if they don’t, they don’t.
The one's arrogant are those resistant of the change. Adaptation from another work doesn’t mean restriction someone from employees his own artistic style. You can not expect a new to me just a copy as paste, otherwise, as I have said, if you insist to be narrow-minded and continue to disrespect other artist, stick to the we toon.

as high budgeted drama i feel like it didnt give justice to the webtoon the cg is quite okay their many unnecessary scene and their no character depth no backstory im expecting it in the next season anyway its nah for me alice in borderland is better than this
I was not a webtoon reader, so I didn’t have any preconceived notions, but I really loved this drama. I actually cried for characters and loved it! I wasn’t too impressed with the cgi, but got used to it as the drama went on.
I am a fan of zombie drama like Walking dead. So i was excited. Even drama was decent enough, it was lacking in character dept and story development. I was waitin for something good for whole time, but nothing major was happening. I think actors were good with what writer gave to them. Hoping for next season.
The visuals are off the hook for this drama. I did end up marathoning the whole thing and although I felt that the story was a little lacking and could have used some tightening up, I still had a good time watching it. I guess I was expecting more grand heroics from Song Kang's character but he really didn't turn out to be the main focus. The other characters each had good compelling stories. I'm sure Song Kang's character will have more to do in the 2nd season. Definitely a popcorn series that could have been a bit better but decent for what it is. Hoping the 2nd season will be better.
