Big Three network SBS is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year, with 30 years of churning out addicting and middling K-dramas alike. But in that three decades there are certainly epic takes of derring do and makjang revenge perfectly executed, of romance that spans Paris to the stars, so the network is asking fans to pick out. There is a contest running this week to pick THE BEST SBS DRAMA of your life. It’s not a write in poll so there are only 10 dramas to choose from (in order of old to new) which are all considered one of the most successful SBS dramas: Sandglass, Trap of Youth, Tomato, Ladies of the Palace, Rustic Period, All In, Lovers in Paris, Tree with Deep Roots, I Hear Your Voice, You From Another Star, Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim, and The Fiery Priest. I wonder if the vote will skew towards newer dramas since the voting age group could be on the younger side, though honestly all of South Korea shut down to watch the Sandglass final episode and it’s only with the passage of time that people either forget or don’t know how popular those early K-dramas were.

The choices itself are a bit off. In what world would TFP and IHYV be considered more successful than SeGa? Undoubtedly both are better dramas lol, but if the criteria is success in recognition, ratings and domestic/international fame, then SeGa is legendary in more ways than I can count.
I personally haven’t seen anything before All In on this list, so from that drama onwards, for me it’s undoubtedly YFAS. In every criteria, to me, it’s way ahead - acting, directing, writing, popularity, ratings, etc. It got non kdrama watching people to watch. It wasn’t just popular, I remember it being monumental. I don’t think any other drama has been able to emulate what that drama did until possibly Crash Landing this year. And even so, I don’t know if the impact is as big. And no, I’m not forgetting Goblin or Descendants lol.
Boom. I'm also surprised SG isn't here. It was a waaay bigger hit than some dramas on the list. My vote also goes to YFAS.
Tomato and All In is most unforgettable.
Lover in the Paris should wins, it has all the cliche, all the angst and one of a kind ending
I think Secret Garden isn't the defining drama that year, defined popular, not worth remembering also didn't age well
What? No SeGa??? SBS even did the concert for it. But not with IHYV or TFP. SeGa gave SBS much popularity and money, obviously, but why??? Does SBS have problems with the producer? Script writer? Actors? To not included SeGa???
I find it highly suspicious that Secret Garden is missing from the list. It's a legit Hallyu hit that propelled Hyun Bin to stardom and built up the SBS brand big time. This year being the 10th anniversary of SeGa too. Someone high up at SBS must be offended by anything related to SeGa.
