Lee Je Hoon and Esom Headline the Script Reading for SBS Investigation Revenge Drama Deluxe Taxi

I have a pet peeve when a movie/tv show/book picks a name that is already associated with an iconic prior work. Upcoming SBS drama Deluxe Taxi really is going with Taxi Driver as its English title and I’m just shaking my head like really? Between Scorsese, Foster and De Niro there is so much tied to that name. Aside from that I think the drama adapted from a webtoon sounds super intriguing – it’s about a former marine turned livery driver who ends up running an operating driving people seeking revenge. It’s all so noir. The drama stars Lee Je Hoon, Esom, Kim Eui Sang, and Lee Na Eun from the PD of Doctor Detective with the screenwriter of movies Fabricated City, Codename: Jackal, and White Night. The drama is already filming and recently released script reading stills with an April 2021 premiere in the Fri-Sat time slot currently airing Penthouse 2.

      • For now, I tested Beyond Evil, River, Sysiphus and Hello Me. I need to test Vincenzo and Times.

I'm not convinced by any of them for now.
Beyond Evil : the characters spent more time to be angry against each other than be a cop. They could make a good team.
River: it was less promising than I was expected like the fights. But it looked like a long intro, so I'm waiting for the story to really take place.
Sisyphus : I have so many questions about the FL... I'm curious about the story. Some actions were funny.
Hello Me : I didn't really like any character. I think I will rewatch Heart to Heart instead.

      • I'm halfway through Beyond Evil and I agree with you. There's potential but those two cops need to get on the same page.

I get what you mean about River.

Sisyphus is a fun comedy for me. Lol.

Hello Me is a sloppy mess but I'll stick with it for awhile.

Vincenzo has some flaws. You might either love it or hate it. Personally, I enjoyed it even though the female lead was a bit of a turnoff.

I haven't seen Times yet but the synopsis reminds me of Signal and other similar time-warping dramas.
