Zombies are not just overrunning Joseon Korea via sageuk dramas and movies, it’s also got its bite in modern fare most recently with #Alive and to come with Netflix drama All of Us are Dead. Joining the trend is OCN which has done well with dark thrillers whether investigative or supernatural and the upcoming Dark Hole was billed as a mystery but from the first stills and teasers is straight up a zombie drama. Lee Joon Hyuk and Kim Ok Bin are detectives who must deal with a strange smoke that comes out of a dark hole in the ground of their small city which turns citizens into feral creatures and monsters. It’s the first time this PD has helmed a K-drama and he most recently directed the 2015 movie The Phone (which is the movie version of Kairos) and the screenwriter wrote Strangers From Hell, Item, and Save Me. The drama is scheduled for late April release.
