Taecyeon and Kim Hye Yoon Sparkle with Comedic Chemistry in New Posters and Preview for tvN Sageuk Inspector Joy

Every time I see the title of tvN sageuk Inspector Joy I read it as Inspector Gadget which totally dates me but ah those were the idyllic times of after school cartoons. A good hearted bumbling inspector is what I also expect from this sageuk which combines Taecyeon as the titular inspector and Kim Hye Yoon as a woman named Jo Yi who thinks and acts ahead of her time. I do worry a small minority crazy Korean male viewers will be offended at this Joseon era feminist who married young and is seeking to divorce her ne’er-do-well husband but it’s a great reversal of sageuk trope with the capable at her job female and the not suited for his job male. I tease that Taec is going to comedic overkill us out of the sageuk mood but honestly a drama that skews towards hijinks could work better with his rubbery myriad of befuddled expressions to come. I do love the two new drama posters, so charming and colorful and the one on top is a new visual I’ve not seen before used in a K-drama poster.
