New Preview for SBS Drama Now, We are Breaking Up Emphasizes the Breaking Up Part Between Telegenic Leads Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong

The promos for this drama reminds me of Memento. Everything starts from the end, or is the end the beginning and the it begins anew? I don’t know, but either way the breaking up part seems to be all SBS is leaning in on for the teasers and posters for upcoming romance drama Now, We are Breaking up. The two new posters use very muted tones and the visuals are all alluding to the end of a relationship – the one below has Jang Ki Yong and Song Hye Kyo in happy couple times and then the one above has Song Hye Kyo’s picture burning, so we see the evolution from in love to trying to erase the existence of the other person. The new preview out also shows us the breakup scene (maybe?), the one in the rain with Jang Ki Yong holding an umbrella over him and Song Hye Kyo and she’s got major unshed tears in her eyes and then she’s gone and he looks around longingly. Sigh, if the love isn’t over then why break up, I hope they tried hard to make it work before pulling the nuclear option and then dragging all the viewers through a likely reconciliation.

  • Looking good I cannot wait. The leads look so good together I am sure their chemistry is going to be HOT!!

  • Lol it looks like old school romance. Almost like the season series except in a much nicer landscape. This is the first time SHK seems to be have chemistry with a younger costar (at least IMO) so that’s a good sign I think?

  • What I like about Jang Ki-yong is that, given the right situation, he can be very manly and make me overlook that he is the younger half. He and Jang Nara worked well in Go Back Couple. Similarly, these promos give the impression that he can go toe to toe with Song Hye-kyo as a feasible partner, unlike Park Bo-gum who will just remind me of the power imbalance. Promising previews so far, hoping that this will finally be his breakthrough.

  • "If the love isn't over, then why break up?" Sigh, I broke up with my ex while we still very much in love because being together is a lot harder than being apart. At the end of the day, self-happiness is the utmost importance.

Anyway, the teaser is intriguing. I just finally caught up with The Fiery Priest and finished watching within a record time where I had a blast of fun. So, I guess I am more than ready for a little melo-romance.

  • Waiting just because of SHK. What chemistry are you talking about? Just look at the eyes of the male actor, no match to the emotions of SHK's eyes. He better be good in this one. He was a so-so in his previous works.

  • I have to give SBS props for the doing the kind of preview that makes viewers want to watch the drama more just to see if the leads can generate chemistry more than their blank wide-eye stares in the video and model poses in the teaser posters. All I see in this is SHK and her melo eyes.

  • I feel like, They just saw each other after so many years after breaking up. In song hye kyo's side, she looks like she's been trying to forget him but then realizes she still loves him after seeing him again and she's not happy with it, she doesn't feel happy seeing him while in Jang ki yong's side... He seems as if he also realized that he's still inlove with her after all those years and he's happy about that emotion of his, he's happy to see her again. Like what they're thinking is totally the opposite of the other.
