Streaming platform Apple TV is a still a newbie in stepping into the K-drama realm so it’ll be interesting to see if the company promotes upcoming Koreans in Japan multigenerational drama/series Pachinko. Netflix has the process down to a science at this point having launched over a dozen self-produced K-dramas in the last two years but Apple TV is starting off with a really prestige high profile project with this multi-cultural and multi-lingual show adapted from the same name award winning novel. It’s also got veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung playing the family matriarch and she’s coming off last year’s win at the Oscar’s for Best Supporting Actress. The cast includes popular Hallyu actor Lee Min Ho, Korean-American actor Jin Ha, and newcomer Kim Min Ha and child actress Jeon Yu Na. The five are starting the Pachinko promo circuit as this week the cast posed pictures and did an interview with fashion and entertainment magazine Bazaar.

Oppa is so smart doing this prestigious period drama as well as rumored huge space drama. New phase of career with 2 mega projects. Hopefully they work out and its good he is signing up for streaming sites because they are present and future of industry. Haters can keep crying and be jealous of him bco their faves wont get such mega projects back to back but he keeps winning.
The exec producer Soo Hugh said in twitter that there are 4 seasons. imdb has been updated and LMH is in all 8 eps. There's a child actor cast as the young Noa, Hansu and Sunja's son. It's possible that S1 will cover the early life of Hansu, how he joined the Yakusa and rose thru the ranks to become a boss. That'll be interesting to see what's not in the book which barely covers his early life. I think ep1 will start with Solomon working in Wall Street then going back to Japan. It then flashbacks to Sunja's early life in Korea, meeting the middle-aged Hansu. When Noa is a young boy Hansu is in his early 40's. So LMH could actually be the ML. I just don't see how they could stretch the books into 4 seasons with 8 eps each.
This ain’t a k-drama… Or would you also call Minari a Korean movie, Mulan a Chinese movie and Memoirs of a Geisha a Japanese movie? This is a global drama similar to Stranger Things, Downton Abbey or what not. The difference is that they speak Korean, Japanese and to a lesser extent English. It is directed by Korean-Americans and has also plenty of Japanese and international actors of Asian descent…
It is an american production, like minari was. So you're absolutely correct when you say it isn't a k-drama.
the first pic...except lmh why are all sulking. looks funny.
Lol koalas aunty said lmh isnt main lead. Now he in in all 8 epis n will have multiple seasons. Cry aunty
Looking forward to seeing this film. These are Beautiful, Wonderful Amazing Talented Actors who I know will make this a Wonderful film to enjoy. God Bless You Always!
So excited for this. This isnt like your cheesy, typical kdramas (yes its not kdrama). This will make LMH more global (he is now, but MORE), and im looking forward to see his haters going crazy?
Looking forward to watch this drama encompassing generations in 2nd world War and giving the details of ethnicity and impact in the life of Koreans and transformation in the times. Hopefully will make happy with their dedication in portraing the characters.
this photoshoot screams nothing but power *chef's kiss*
If this fails it'll be extremely embarrassing but fun to witness heh
