I thought one mediocre Joseon prohibition era drama this year was one too many already but now there is a second one coming. Earlier this year I was totally underwhelmed with Moonshine (Thinking of the Moon When the Flowers Bloom) and now another sageuk is being prepped dealing with the same topic. Bootleg (Korean title Milje) has an offer to Joo Won and will be his first sageuk in 5 years since My Sassy Girl and his first drama in two years after the wacktastic sci-fi drama Alice. Bootleg involves competing forces in Joseon fighting over bootleg alcohol sales rights. I thought Moonshine was just okay early on in dealing with the topic and then got stupider as it went on. My hopes are Bootleg has a smart script if Joo Won accepts the role.

It's weird... Two dramas about Royal Secret Inspector in one year, now 2 about the alcohol prohibition, what writers are thinking?
this doesn't seem interesting. i miss the days when i used to look forward to joo won's projects. i feel the same about ji chang wook, but at least now he has that netflix magic drama which seems intriguing.
Hope this this drama would be good. Joo Won's acting is good so he really just need a good drama with a good script and production.
