J-ent remains more common that married actresses, and especially married with kids actresses, will retire formally and focus on the family. Nothing wrong with that but it’s sad to see so many faves leave the industry when there is plenty of optionality to continue their career. J-actress Ishihara Satomi got married two years ago and made it clear she was not retiring then but she got pregnant last year and I wasn’t sure if she was going to stay the course. She did and continued to work through her pregnancy showing up on TV programs and awards shows rocking various comfortable but elegant maternity wear. This week on April 21st she welcomed her first child with her non-celeb hubby so this does mean she won’t be working for the next few months or more. Congrats to Satomi and wishing the growing family happiness with their new bundle of joy.

Isn't Matsushima Nanako-san still working? I will believe your notion if all of actresses of her calibre retired after getting married and have a kid.
"more common" *eyeroll*
seriously common sense isnt common
I still miss Maki Horikita.
Congratulations to Satomi! I like her as an actress too. She has a lot of charisma and her real-life personality is cute.
Another actress except for Horikita Maki that has retired (at least from acting) is Kiritani Mirei.
This article is just weird.. Why are you sad that a nursing mother is not leaving her child to return back to work asap?.
Koala is talking about how J-actresses commonly leave the industry completely after they got pregnant. Not just a temporary maternity leave.
@Lily: In J-industry most actresses completely quit public life after they get married.
It's not like Korean industry where married actresses still make appearances on variety shows or doing occasional CFs even if they are not acting anymore.
Congratulations to Satomi and husband on the birth of their baby. She is glowing in these pictures.
She is so pretty and charismatic. I loved her in Pretty Proofreader!
