Who says awarding winning top K-director Park Chan Wook can’t keep surprising this long into his exceptional career. His first movie in 6 years since The Handmaiden debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this week to thunderous reception, with a 5-minute long standing ovation by the audience after the screening of Decision to Leave. While this movie has thriller elements in that it’s a detective mystery, it’s also described as a romance, and definitely differs from Park Chan Wook’s most famous prior movies including Old Boy, Lady Vengeance, Thirst, and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Leads Park Hae Il and Tang Wei were in attendance with Park Chan Wook at Cannes and the three really lit up the red carpet coming in to remind the world that before K-dramas got majorly big in the last two years it was K-movies that garnered the first toehold into the Western media and audiences.

Loved the trailer for this! The scene in the temple was just bursting with chemistry. Park Hae Il and Tang Wei are really well matched.
I'm excited to see Park Chan-Wook back in the game. Feel like he fell off a bit given all the attention Bong Joon-Ho got for Parasite.
This film isn't a big departure from PCW's other works. The Handmaiden and Stoker both had a heavy romance angle.
Snowpiercer is a BJH film, no?
is it just me? I find that Tang Wei and Blackpink's Jisoo look really alike. Especially the last pic
I see the similarities too...plus Gao Yuan Yuan...all same aura and so pretty and classy looks.
