The K-drama breakouts of 2021 are done and it’s up to those actors and actresses to capitalize on that unique opportunity. We’re nearly halfway done with 2022 and so far there have been few true newbie breakouts and one of them is Kim Min Ha, the female lead of Apple TV+ show Pachinko. It’s an ensemble generational drama but playing the female lead during her adult years (with other actresses as her child and elderly versions) puts a lot of screen time on an actress in the world stage who has only done small roles in a few dramas and movies since her debut in 2018. She got rave reviews from the critics and with it the start of love calls. She has now become the South Korean face of Roger Vivier and with it a new couture spread in Women’s Wear Daily Korea.
