Okay, the only other time in recent memory I have seen a drama with so little pre-premiere fan fare set ratings records was jTBC drama Sky Castle, which is credited for putting that cable network on the map as a true contender to tvN and also paving the way for rich people makjang that begat Penthouse the following year. This fourth week of airing for ENA drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo continues to live up to the extraordinary in its title doing another ratings leap forward to 11.690% and 13.093%. It’s now the second highest rated cable drama this year with Our Blues having the final episode break 14%. And by chance this week Koo Kyo Hwan guest starred and having the current cinema and awards circuit It Boy arrive is great selection on both his part to take a cameo role and the production for nabbing him.

Just a head up for those who haven’t watched this week’s episodes, you should watch both in one seating cuz they separate this case into 2 parts
I think the production really spent most of their budget on casting & shooting and left little to nothing for promotion 😂
Anyway, I can’t wait for this next week’s cameo. KKH will definitely tug my heart with his case.
It deserves it! The stories are interesting. They don't drag so much the plot like the mother, who wrote the anonymus message, etc.
Woo Young-Woo has really nice and fun relationship with every character : her father, her best friend, her female colleague, her ennemy colleague and of course with Jun-Ho.
There is promotion, there is little cute teaser before airing, And Park Eun Bin publicy talk about her earlier rejection and finally to give it a chance before airing is also apart of publicity. they think they will treat it with respect.I was more curious about the show after that interview. But it' really not a big buzz... though.. I just think they treat it just another law drama. And to think the show get to air in new channel means they have no expectation it will be a hit, since the subject is sensitive and might be trigger some community if depiction they think will gone wrong.
I read somewhere that this drama initially got offered to SBS but they declined.
If this is true, it’s indeed a loss to SBS. But I can imagine the number if PPL thrown into the drama it really airs on SBS 😂. Non-stop trip to Subway, zooming in on certain products in every single shot.
The absence of PPL or little of it thereof is a blessing in disguise. As viewers would not get annoyed or distracted by the show. I'm sure there will be lots of reeards at the end. I look on WYW's high interest in whales, sushi as a way, another one s public service announcements informing people about autism etc. I'm glad it was not picked up by SBS as a result.
Too much buzz, people will consider it as overhype..and will lead to disappointment especially if it doesn't live up to the viewers'expectation. Case in point, The King Eternal Monarch. I think the production and marketing team learned this lesson well:Quality and mouth-to-mouth (marketing) work well.
The KIng Eternal Monarch is the prime example the show get aired when One show dominating in the same day. Talk about unlucky. Look at When attorney Woo airing, Seo Hyun Jin drama and others show who were leading suddenly much less talk. then again, the drama has already getting so much noise even before airing due to their dislike with the leads and the setting seems corny, lol.
Dang. I gotta watch this. Good for PEB.
❤ this drama! I still watch the intro before each episode ... it's that good. The whales ... the "falling in love" dances (um .. cha .. cha) ... "To the Woo, to the Young, to the Woo" (dub) ... how can you not fall in love with Extraordinary Attorney Woo?!
PEB's choice to count on her fingers before entering a doorway reminds me of - me.
When required to hug someone, I count to 4 by using my fingertips on their back / shoulder, then release. Combine this with my hatred of louse noise, and I have to wonder where I sit on the autism spectrum.
Wow looking at Netflix right now, it is #8 in TV shows in the US. I’m happy this show is getting lots of attention, well deserved!
Loving this drama and I totally get why this is a hit among worldwide Netflix users too. At first, what attracted me to this was PEB's acting and then the whales and then the great dynamics among the characters (no unnecessary character). Then I got hooked because you learn a lot in each episode, not just about the autism spectrum and the whales but about how there's so much "creativity" in litigation law. It's a well-researched and well-executed drama. They deserve all the success. It can even be a multi-season drama just like Dr Romantic and Hospital Playlist.
This is a drama that character names are more popular than the actors’ name.
