My precious perfect drama that is Love Like the Galaxy ended and I’m going to need time to rewatch every episode wind down. C-netizens are saying that the next high profile period C-drama Tencent will release is going to be The Longest Promise, Chinese title 玉骨谣 (Yu Gu Yao translated as Jade Bone Ballad). Starring Xiao Zhan and Ren Min, this drama has been done filming for the past year and fans have been anxiously waiting for it as one of the handful of anticipated C-dramas for 2022. It’s been described as following the teacher-student forbidden romance of hit drama The Journey of Flower but this time it’s the teacher role played by Xiao Zhan that gets put through the angst wringer whereas in Flower it was Zhao Li Ying‘s student role. If true then expect lots of pretty Xiao Zhan back in period garb to come!

I thought Tencent announced it was going to be "the young flying fox" with Liang Jie. A wuxia drama. let's see if they changed their mind.
I'm definitely looking forward to this drama. It's not that similar to The Journey of Flower though because the male lead in The Longest Promise is only a few years older than the female lead in the drama, so the teacher-student forbidden romance doesn't really feel so forbidden to me. But I thought The Longest Promise hasn't obtained the NRTA's broadcast permission yet?
