It’s weird, I’m not a Xu Kai fan probably because I won’t touch his breakout drama Story of Yanxi Palace with a ten foot pole (allergic to palace dramas and Yumama), but I am oddly super looking forward to both of his upcoming dramas. For She and Her Perfect Husband (爱的二八定律) with Yang Mi, the preview really hooked me. It’s a standard opposites attract and even noona-dongsaeng romance plus cohabitation and fake marriage all thrown together but the two leads actually have chemistry not to mention Xu Kai seems custom built for the role of the young sweet stud with unexpected edges. I think we’ll see this drama first. The second is period drama Wonderland of Love (乐游原) with Jing Tian based on a Fei Wo Si Cun novel and the romance between a general and another general’s kickass daughter sounds right up my alley. It’s like Ling Bu Yi falling for Wan Qi Qi haha which I’m sure is sacrilege in Love Like the Galaxy fans but conceptually totally would make a different but also compelling story. Anyhoo, both dramas released new stills to celebrate the Moon Festival (actually TONS of dramas did so) and I’m loving it.
This xianxia drama was only filmed in late 2023 but it feels more old school…
So the slow burn rise in buzz and views for period C-drama The Glory may…
The great start to 2025 for Park Bo Gum hopefully will continue into the summer…
This sounds so potentially awesome with both the cast and the story outline it's like…
The lawsuits are definitely flying in the Kim Soo Hyun scandal where he is alleged…
The Han Dynasty has so much great real life pathos and love/loss/war to mine for…

Xukai is in so many dramas every year but he's yet to have /the/ hit to take him to the next level of fame. I wonder if the new Chinese Paladin is going to be the one for him. He's pretty well rounded overall and I far prefer him over the current popular traffic stars.
I'm looking forward to She and Her Perfect Husband too
I find Xu Kai does not have the appearance that fit the xianxia and period drama. Something about his features that are too soft and gentle. His last xianxia foray with Zhou Dongyu for example, was bothersome partly because he just doesn't have the look for the part. Similarly for period drama, I can't picture him portraying the role of a general because of the lack of intensity in his facial features. He suits modern genre better.
This. Xu Kai is good looking. But his look doesn't suit historical style
maybe because his brows are over manicured.
Xu Kai was my favorite 95 liner C Actor until I rediscovered Wu Lei after watching TLB and LLTG. I do think he has the looks and decent acting skills, he just needs a show like LBTFD to propel him to the next level.
Gosh, sorry, personal preference, but not anybody with Yang Mi. She's a very hard to watch actor. Like there is no life in those eyes, and it is magnified in her acting. Xu Kai, on the other hand, I have a soft spot. But true, he needs another breakthrough.
081 and 77?!? Haha! Great analogy.
