K-actress Han Groo Confirms Divorce From Husband of 7 Years and Plans to Make Acting Comeback After Signing with New Agency

I’ll keep the asides silent for this story, nothing much can come of bystanders making commentary. K-actress Han Groo is in the news this week for two connected events. She’s getting a divorce from her husband of 7 years (soon to be ex-husband) and is also planning an acting career returning later this year. She’s signed with the agency SBD Entertainment that represents Son Seok Kyu and Han Ji Hyun. She will get full custody of the pair of boy-girl fraternal twins age 6 years old after the divorce. K-netizens are cold towards her return because right before she retired from acting when she got married news broke that she and her agency had brushed her background up to sound like she was raised by loving parents and had three elder siblings who all attended prestigious universities with good careers.

Her stepsister posted online that it was not true – the father left his first wife and the three older kids and remarried Han Groo’s mom who brought her in elementary school into that second marriage, and the older kids lived with them for a short period of time before leaving that house and cutting contact, so the stepsister hurts to see Han Groo use them to burnish her own background image when it’s not true. Han Groo’s agency at that time apologized, claimed it was all just a misunderstanding and Han Groo mentioned her stepsiblings with respect because it would disrespect them to say she did not have any siblings. I don’t think this is a career ending/starter so all Han Groo needs to deliver good performances/projects to slowly restart her career.

  • I have been rewatching marriage not dating in the past few days, and I am glad to hear she is back.

When I first saw zhao lusi, I thought she looked like Han Groo with similar comedic style and missed her acting. Can’t wait to see what she does next. Good luck.

  • I'm sorry she is going through a lot in her personal life but glad she is returning to acting. I always thought that scandal was blown out of proportion. Koreans are still weird about people with divorced parents, etc. It's no wonder she painted them as one big happy family.

  • Marriage, Not Dating remains one of my ultimate fave dramas. She has wonderful comedic timing, and would have been slayed as a romcom queen.
Hopefully we get to see her act more now bec she’s talented.

  • Marriage not dating remains a fave korean drama. Miss her acting and comedic timing. Hope we see more of her now.

  • The scandal was nothing in comparison to what goes around now. She is a great actor, Marriage not Dating was such a solid drama. I wish her and her twins the best. Holing to see her back soon. My money is on weekend drama for comeback.

    • Why would Knetz mock her because if her nose and not Lee Jong Suk who happens to have one of the worst pinched nose job I have seen? Nobody is asking him to fix his bad nose job. If they can accept LJS’s nose they will fine with Han Groo’s. Lol

      • Are you really sure "nobody is asking him to fix his bad nose job"? or are you just making it up?? LJS has changed his nose several times already. His nose now looks more acceptable...

  • oh, even Korean actress are predictable when it comes to divorcing. Like the local actress in my country, we can actually sense when they’re getting a divorce.

If they suddenly make a comeback or planning to make a comeback out of nowhere after not being in the limelight for a long time, that’s the sign

  • Han Groo also has a biological older brother who did not attend a prestigious university. She never mentioned him, only her step-siblings who did attend prestigious universities. So her intentions are clear, and what she did is actually a huge insult to her biological brother.

Her parents' remarriage to each other was due to adultery, so her step-siblings are already unhappy about them. They don't have much of a relationship with her, and they didn't want her to use their names when promoting herself as an actress, which is understandable. She was dumb to do that.

Aside from what she did, it's her non-apology afterwards that's the problem. Instead of apologizing to her step-siblings in person, she wrote a letter to them on social media in which she failed to show contrition. The tone was, "Oh come on, get over it."

I don't think what she did is so terrible that she needs to be blackballed from the entertainment industry forever. But she did show very poor character, so she should at the very least apologize sincerely.

  • Her personal life does seem rather mixed up... As a actress, I really feel she is one of the best actress around with a great figure. Looking forward to see her on telly..
