This year is the 27th annual Busan International Film Festival and itโs back to the star-studded glory days of red carpet throngs and plenty of slow waves. Unfortunately the K-stars stuck to their tried and true boring fashion, a slew of black dresses with the rare color showing up. The men fared much better as the classic tux is never out of style and some went with cool lining, textures on the jacket, and embellishments. The big award of the night went to Hong Kong actor Tony Leung as basically a lifetime achievement award and was it deserved for sure. I canโt wait to see how the festival movies are received with plenty of exciting flicks on deck to debut here at BIFF.

Love the look and gowns of Kim Yoo Jung, Han Yeri and Ki Hye Jun (saw elsewhere).
*Kim Hye Jun
Hooray for Lee Yoon Ji breaking up the soporofic snoozefest of the traditional Korean Black Carpet event.
Gu Hye Sun dress is horrible.
Although black, they're more interesting than their usual awards' red carpet. At least there's only one bridally white or light pastel gown. I mean why Korean actresses like white and pastel colours so much? They wash them out. Aren't Korea the first one to popularise colour season theory? Why don't the stylists apply it to their actresses? Some of them will be more beautiful if they're styled like Fan Bingbing with bold colours, make them palers even rather than like sickly patient.
I agree! Good point about the color season thing. Koreans use that system so much but for some reason it's not applied in red carpet fashion ๐ญ
I cry inside whenever I see actresses with bright/clear coloring wear boring muted/pastel gowns that wash them the hell out ๐ญ
I love it when the Chinese stars grace their red carpets. They look amaaaazing from the guys to the gals!
All of them (ladies) wearing the ugly gown ๐ฎ๐ฎ
I know right ๐ญ
Some of the gowns are downright matronly and really age the wearers ๐ญ
A lot of k-dramas have amazing wardrobes, I have no idea why it isn't the case in korean red carpets ๐ญ
Will Korean awards show fashion ever stop being such a snoozefest? It's always bridal white or black dresses in the most uninteresting/uninspired cuts imaginable. I'm old enough to remember the days when this wasn't the norm, so why has this trend carried on for so long?
Black is OK but 99% wear only that color? Is that the DC? Guess K-actresses should've learned Red Carpet 101 from C-actresses
Who's the lady in yellow? She's the only one who looks fabulous to me ๐
I love the dazzling blue dress by Kim Kyu Ri, grey diamond studded one by Song Ji Hyun and bright red by Jo Yoon Hee. Soompi provided a more balanced coverage than here. I think that's on purpose to provoke more comments.
It seems like they don't do glamour anymore. All gowns they wear you can see them in any formal Christmas parties here in the States. The cuts are common, styling aren't eye catching. Even their hairs are worn like everyday style. The only one that caught my eyes is JHI.
