It’s a bit odd that such a high profile C-movie getting a K-version adaptation just went into production and off the radar. In 2020 it was announced that Soulmate (Qi Yue Yu An Sheng) was getting a K-adaptation starring Kim Da Mi, Jeon So Nee, and Byun Woo Seok. The original was a huge hit in box office and raking in the awards and launching both female leads Zhou Dong Yu and Ma Si Cun to new levels of stardom. It’s rare to have such a strong source material that is female centric, nuanced, heartbreaking, and uplifting, and allows both female leads to each have a memorable character. Well it’s not two years later to start 2023 and news is out that the movie has gotten release approval and will be heading into promotions and scheduling a premiere date in theaters. Hopefully the first trailer will capture the magic of the original and revive some Soulmate feels.

Byun woo-seok?
I got excited seeing Byun Yo Han’s name paired with Kim Da Mi. He’s older but I love both of them. What a letdown to see it’s actually a typo error. Byeon Woo Suk was bland as heck in ROY. How’d he get casted in a film and with Kim Da Mi?
