Sooooooo this looks like either an epic fail or a wildly unexpected surprise. Netflix just dropped the first preview for rom-com K-drama Love to Hate You and I’m just perplexed my entire way through it. Each beat is plucked from all previous antagonist to lovers rom-com capers from contract dating to opposites attract but it’s the starring of Yoo Teo and Kim Ok Bin as the leads that just take me a wee bit out of the moment. Both have the image of tough and dangerous leads in serious dramas and seeing them in pratfalls and trying to one-up another is like an optical illusion of sorts. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great to have adult serious stars take their turn at comedic silliness in romance I just need a sec to get into the moment. Bonus points here for second male lead Kim Ji Hoon who is not the third wheel but instead a besty trying to get his boy true love with the right girl.
Preview for Love to Hate You:
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…

Why do writers/directors/producers go out of their way to do stupid montages like the female lead beating up a group of men? Aside from leapfrogging over the bounds of credibility, it's really annoying that strength = belligerence when it comes to female characters.
I love a enemies to lovers trope but not sure about these leads!
I love them as villainous antagonists in drama, but romcom? From the trailer, looks so typical, but who knows. It can be a hit or a miss. Love to see them challenging themselves in a romcom, rather than being stuck to one genre only.
But kim ji hoon as a wasted 2nd lead... i need this dude to be back as lead.
I stumbled on it last night and couldn’t stop watching . That girl can really fight and Teo Yoo is incredibly handsome whenever he steals a stare at his lead gal . Everyone is well casted even the bosses at law firm. More of such genre - really enjoyable
