Well this is a great surprise and a nod for underdogs that seem totally random on paper. New tvN Sat-Sun rom-com Crash Course in Romance (One Shot Scandal) is rocketing up in ratings in the second week of airing, from the premiere of 4% it’s now reached 7.559% in episode 4. The pairing of Jeon Do Yeon and Jung Kyung Ho hasn’t gone into romance territory yet but they have great chemistry solely from being good actors and having fantastic natural charm onscreen. Watching them feels like seeing these two quirky characters rather than an actor and an actress trying to act as such characters. And having a rom-com get high ratings like this on cable is a win for the genre which remains super popular but doesn’t have the ratings pull for domestic viewers that skew towards older viewers still watching terrestrial and cable television. I’m actually enjoying this drama more this second week and am surprised it’s really working for me, goes to show never write anything off before taking the time to at least watch an episode (or more).

I'm not thrilled about the random thriller element, but it has got a ton of charm.
And this feels like a strange preference, but I really like the lighting and color-grading in this drama.
Not really strange, cinematography when it's done right is really important.
