Ji Chang Wook Wins Next Generation Award at the 2023 Asian Film Awards and Confirmed to Set Up Solo Agency

There’s two big news with K-actor Ji Chang Wook this week and both are good. First off he went to Hong Kong to attend the 2023 Asian Film Awards where he took home the Next Generation Award in part for his movie roles such as for Fabricated City. He’s definitely doing equal work in movies and dramas and probably wants even more control over his own projects as he’s confirmed to be setting up his own solo agency. He did not re-sign with his long time agency after his contract expired recently and was being woo’d by multiple agencies but it makes sense to try his hand at crafting the next stage of his career.

  • After the disasters that are Melting me Softly and Backsh!t Rookie, I can't blame this guy for wanting to leave his shitty ass agency lol

    • Quite true. Ji chang wook has been my most favourite after watching suspicious partbers, the k2 and whirlwind girl 2, but i couldnt continue beyond the 2nd episode of melting me. Backstreet rookie felt like he was trying to humble himself. I dont know how he said yes to the script of if you wish upon me. Such a good talent was wasted by horrible scripts.
I wish to see him more like in k2 or comedy roles and wish him success in all his projects.

  • I appreciate the talent of this actor! He deserves this award ! I will watch for his movies ! Congratulations !

  • Good on him. He is so talented and it is being wasted. I couldn't believe when that melting trash was his first choice after the army. But then it continued. His last drama wasn't such a bad project but still, good choice here and I wish him all the best.

  • While I can appreciate his wanting to start his own agency, I don’t think that his performances in ANY k-dramas have been less than stellar. He is an incredibly gifted and dedicated actor and singer who all-ways gives it his total effort. JAS 3/18/23 🤗

  • Congratulations to Wookiee on the award. He is the best Korean actor for many years. And his game is really alive, you trust him in every project. And I wish him new good roles and fruitful work in the new agency.
