Of all the K-dramas to adapt, I feel like C-ent is getting on the wrong side of doing trendy versus substantive. This week has confirmed the C-drama remake of sageuk youth drama Hwarang which was a disappointment in both production and ratings but does have the record of most good looking flower boy stars in one drama. C-netizens are not feeling the purpose of a remake since all the production needs to do is cast good looking young men in a reverse harem and package it around a plucky female lead, no need to license this drama which didn’t leave a lasting impression any which way.

Guess it's better to license it instead of being accused of plagiarism even though the story was truly basic. Maybe it's just to create some noise marketing. There are quite a few faux-historical idol cdramas about a heroine surrounded by multiple handsome guys - particularly in the low-budget range. News about this being a hwarang adaptation - even if they change up half the drama (like they sometimes do with novel adaptations)- will help it stand out.
Hahaha.I love Hwarang. I still rewatch it time and time again for Park Hyung Sik.
Me too!
Lame drama from the start
I watched Hwarang just for the eye candy tbh
Hwarang is one of the most regretful shitty plot of drama I watched, can’t believe it gets an adaptation lol. Though I guess it was rare representation of shilla bone system
