Yoo Ah In Formally Detained After First Court Hearing After Prosecutors Claim He Tried to Hide Evidence and Also Help Accomplice Leave the Country

Perhaps it’s good for Yoo Ah In that his drug use case is moving swiftly through the South Korean legal system, from investigation to questioning and now his first hearing it’s been about 3 months. Things can’t possibly get worse is what I thought but then it kinda just did. He was formally detained after the hearing after the prosecution applied for and was granted a detention order due to allegations that Yoo Ah In tried to hide evidence and also that he tried to help an accomplice/friend evade arrest and leave the country. Yoo Ah In reportedly gave an address that was NOT his real residence and once that real address was discovered and the residence searched the police found much more drug use evidence. He also reportedly tried to help an accomplice leave the country though that was unsuccessful, but both are signs that he’s a flight risk and may destroy evidence hence the granting of the detention order. Media noted the white hairs visible on his head as he entered the courthouse and he actually answered some of their questions, admitting to most of the allegations but saying he did not try to help anyone evade arrest.
