This is as powerhouse a K-drama as it gets with two Baeksang besting acting award winners and also an award winning screenwriter in Kim Eun Hee. SBS premiered Revenant (The Devil or The Demon) this weekend on the Fri-Sat time slot starring Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se with what feels like a full length drama version of true horror with similar vibes to K-drama The Guest or TW horror drama Incantation. I love a good horror but need to watch when I’m in the mood so right now I’ve yet to click play but many viewers did tune in with the first episode getting 9.9% and the second breaking double digits just slightly at 10% even. The weekend time slots are totally bringing back viewers with a drama for any and every taste.

Proof that one does not need idol to bring in the ratings.
It never does, although in certain circumstances, idol serve as bonus leverage. The Moon that Embraces the Sun with Kim Soo Hyun and Han Ga In, Descendant of The Sun of former Song Song couple, Crash Landing on You of Hyun Bin and Son Hye Jin, the makjangs of JTBC and Penthouse series, (those came to mind) all were ratings juggernauts with no or miniscule role of idols in it. Good casting, interesting plot, tight stories from start to end, star power of the actors (not their idol statuses), fitting time slot, all contributing.
I plan to start it tonight. I love me a good horror drama.
Oooh this looks interesting, I'll give it a try tomorrow.
K-horror is too scary for me so I’ll pass but good for KTR to have yet another hit. KEH redemption too.
