The success of classic K-drama rom-com King the Land may give more wind under the sails for upcoming rom-coms and hopefully more of it. Another one in the works is Because I Don’t Want to Lose and has inked Shin Mina as the female lead. The story is about a really put upon young woman who has nothing good in her life – she doesn’t get her mom’s love, her ex-boyfriend cheated on her, and she can’t enjoy the perks at work reserved for married people. She ends up in a fake contract marriage with a convenience store clerk who is too nice and can’t say no and what follows is their comedic falling in love story. The drama is from the screenwriter of Her Private Life and will air towards the end of this year.
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…

This plot is thinner than butter paper and seeing how empty HPL was in terms of plot this is no surprise. SMA has mostly done romance or romcom except for The Aide in which she had minimal role. This isn't very different than her usual dramas not so much about capitalizing on romcoms but its the genre she prefers. Some actresses rarely breakout of their comfort zones. GHJ is another one who prefers to do romcom dramas only. Does anyone know what happened to Ask The Stars?
Can we only have romcoms for a while? Without serial killers and terminal illness preferably. I'm tired of all the dark, depressing dramas that are beautifully shot and cinematic but do nothing to make me feel better or lighten my mood. Where are all the silly, fun, dumb shows? Give us more Secret Garden, Kim Sam Soon, Boys Over Flowers, My Girl etc anything but dark dramas or slick overly violent action dramas or thriller and serial killers and trauma.
I agree. I’m so tired of serial killers and people dying because of cancer. Can’t they come up with something better. After so many years this cancer theme needs to go. Just watched good bad mother and the plot was good until the cancer theme again
How about King the Land?
