The sudden torrent of airing C-dramas to kick off this summer 2023 doesn’t mean much since it’s all been bad to passable so far but there are plenty still on the burner. One of them is the C-drama adaptation of Tong Hua novel Lost You Forever with Yang Zi as the female lead in a true female centric story. The entire story the readers argue over who her character Xiao Yao loves the most, which guy loves her the most, and which guy is the best for her in the long run. While Yang Zi was not my mental casting for Xiao Yao when I read the novel nearly a decade ago (and rumor was when LYF was in earlier stage development it was Angelababy cast as Xiao Yao while Yang Zi would play her little sister Ah Nian) I’ve really grown to appreciate her casting mostly because there are way worse C-actresses to tap and also among her generation I can’t think of another actress to pull off both tomboy and male harem owner haha. She’s in the cover and pages of the July edition of Madame Figaro promoting LYF which is gearing up for Part 1 in a summer release.

Can we also get the Elle Singapore cover for Kim So Hyun? Its insane! Trended for almost the whole of Mon-Tue.
That photoshoot was gorgeous! She once again proved that she's one of the most visually versatile actresses of her gen, she looks so innocent in some shots and then badass/sexy in some! Love the styling on that photoshoot too, it's great seeing her dolled up instead of the usual no-makeup makeup looks they give her
Yang Zi has always been my ideal casting for this role ever since ashes of love. While she may not what some readers imagine as their ideal Xiao Yao, let's all be thankful the Angelababy casting never panned out. I still mourn for what Song in the Clouds could have been...
These stills are obviously heavily photoshopped.
I was much impressed by her in Ashes of Love. But that's it. Nothing's interesting since that drama. She overacted A LOT in the Oath of Love with heavy makeup all the time. I watched OoL because of her but ended up liking Xiao Zhan instead. I hope YZ paid more attention to manage her weight and body. Rumors said that she's got PS. Sigh! That's fine if it had been done. Nonetheless, if an actress always takes the roles claimed to be extremely beautiful, she should at least discipline herself in weight control to fit her roles better. C fans have been critical of her visuals. I'll check out this drama because there're no actors I dislike in it. I don't even know anyone of them. LOL
I take Yang Zhi over Angelababy any day. Angelababy is pretty but she just doesn’t have it as an actress. I did not find Yang Zhi to be very pretty before but I’m fond of her now. Some of her series are not that great but she’s quite likeable.
