So this could be true and if so it’s two consenting adults and I also don’t want to render judgment based on the disparity in entertainment industry success level, but goodness is this gossip news just weird. A rumor spread widely through C-ent over the weekend that 60-something top actor Tony Leung has shacked up with 25-year old Cheng Xiao (formerly known as Sungsoo in Cosmic Girls). The rumors said he and longtime wife also top actress Carina Lau have an open marriage and both do whatever they want, but this time Tony got with someone much young and got her pregnant, and has bought a residence for her and their child in Japan. This is so wild as Tony and Carina are very private and tactful if anything, the do their own thing in marriage rumors have been around for years and years but it’s that this one has it done so openly and with a child to come as well. Both Tony and Carina have spoken openly about their discussed decision NOT to have kids during the marriage in the early days. This rumor has been denied all around so take it for what it’s worth.
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…

What a weird rumor lol.
Anything is possible.
Wenwu, you dog.
Cheng Xiao is a lead actress for several Chinese dramas with many actors such as Luo Yun Xi. If she is a B catagory then lots of them are B-actresses. Anyway I doubt these rumors. Her career is thriving so I doubt she has to latch onto an established actor.
Putting Cheng Xiao as B-lists actress looks good enough because her popularity, her drama projects and acting talent are not as good as Yang Mi or Dilraba or Yang Zi and others A-listers actresses (Kou bei/reputation, liu liang/popularity and folowers, notable works, etc)
The most notable different between A lists and B lists, the market value these showbiz people have.
Cheng Xiao is a former kpop group singer and only started acting recently in lead roles with Xu Kai, Luo Yunxi….
She is also only 25 years old. While she can’t be compared with Yang Zi, Yang Mi and the others who are focused on acting, she is still having a successful and growing career. Although she may not be as talented or established as them as an actress, she is certainly not without talents.
Why would she be desperate to have a child with someone else’s husband when she can date all the rich and single actors or singers?
Because he’s not just anybody’s husband. He’s the legendary Tony Leung.
Why would she wanna chase after him even though he is a famous actor? There are many actors and singers in China who are single, rich, popular and handsome.
Indeed it is already understood who is in the A-list and CX is certainly not in A-list. No need to teach me who is Yang Zi, Yang Mi… the whole world knows they are in the A-List. Any C-Drama fans would know that. No need to teach me as if I dunno who are in the A-list.
First of all: read my sentences carefully as I never argue for CX to be in the A-list. So tell me who compiles the B-list and C-list etc? Any sites categorize the B-list? C-list? D-list?
Secondly, I find this sentence “this could be true…. “ to be very strange and creepy….afterall this concerns the reputation of Tony, his wife and CX….
She is a dancer by training. Like many (but not all) idols, she's got opportunities working with popular actors in high-profile dramas not because she can act but thanks to her very powerful agency (that's Wang Yibo's agency and usually an investor to the drama productions too). I tried to watch three of her high-profile dramas in which all her leading men are popular. I couldn't continue after ep1. Her acting was so forced and stiff, just as other idol-trained actors from her agency. Apparently she had no understanding of her characters and the plots. Labeling her a B-list is more than what she deserves.
Her first drama was not that great. But she was superb in Falling Into Your Smile, My Heart and Lie to Love. She’s a beautiful, glorious talent that reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. She can really go far in the West because she is so beautiful with perfect body proportions. She’s also a wonderful crier on film. It’s not easy to cry beautifully, but she has somehow mastered it. She needs to be in more dramas as the lead ASAP.
There are many that are in the B category, and she's nowhere near an A list actress. She's definitely a popular idol though. You don't need to find offense to the "B" grading. I think she's very pretty and a great dancer, but her acting is still quite stiff. As you mentioned, she's only 25 years old and has some years left in her career to grow. She just needs to definitely improve if she wants a long term career in dramaland.
I also find this rumor to be kind of ridiculous. I won't believe any of it until there's actual evidence and not just a lot of jobless crazies talking about it.
When did I say "B" grading offensive? Nothing offends me. She's not my fave's rival. lol. I just found it's pretty amusing how desperate her agency has been to promote its idols outside their own turf all over the place, who mostly can't act. HK stock exchange disclosed the financial report of her agency that was rushed to IPO last year. It did not look good. There're plenty of rumors about the financial status of the agency which aren't positive. I'll omit all the details. In short, the agency's stock hasn't been doing well since the IPO.
There're not only A list and B list actors. There're also C list and worse leagues. It's not like actors in non-A list should all be dumped in B list altogether. A-list is top notch while actors in the B-list is still decent with acting chops, but not as publicly recognizable as A-list actors. I don't even consider her decent enough to be called a B-list actress by that definition. She's a misplaced product her agency lobbied the C-ent industry to sell on a wrong market, namely the drama land. lol
@Somebody, I was talking to Rei when I said she doesn't have to find the B grading offensive since she started defending CX's with examples about her thriving career.
Men are such walking cliches lol “[insert random old man] gets caught cheating on his same-age wife with [insert random 20-something]
Me: *pretends to be shocked*
No wonder many women just choose to be unmarried these days 🙄
Lmaoaoa...this comment is so weird. Did you even read the post? Do you even KNOW Tony Leung and Carina Lau, or Cheng Xiao? These personalities, careers, and behaviors don't maatch up. Only a braindead person would give this funny rumor the light of day. Not to mention making a mini rant about all men being cheaters over it.
It's been an open secret that Tony and Carina's marriage are an open marriage. Carina also has her own flings and affair outside. There are tons of pictures of her and her other guy. So it's not always about man cheating and the woman knows nothing.
Her agency is powerful in the C showbiz but has been getting really notorious with scandals for years.
Her variety show Chinese Restaurant season 7 in Hungary airs recently. How can she do a tired variety show while she is pregnant? The participants always say they are tired, hungry, body ached after a lot of standing, working in the kitchen, cooking and washing dishes.
People get on Beyonce's internet and say anything. Leave that poor man Tony alone 🤣
I also think she's B list actress, but i liked her drama with Xu Kai. She is still young, still have times to improve and prove her ability in acting department...
Even popular A list actress, started from lower list...
I think, the rumor is baseless.. like, she's almost everywhere in drama and varshow, how the f she had pregnant?
And she can get a young rich man instead of a... grandpa? She's pretty, young, talented and lovely, people just want to hate her tho.. ckckc
I like Xu Kai, so I watched “Falling Into Your Smile”. I really tried but I dropped it after like two episodes. Her acting was awful there. I will never understand about the hype of that drama with her as a FL.
Thank God, yours is a minority opinion. One of the reasons why FIYS is so popular on Netflix is Cheng Xiao. She’s innocent yet wise. Nerdy but cute. And her chemistry with Xu Kai is legendary. She has won legions of fans worldwide as a result. And, yes, we’re watching her acting performance not the performance of the translators.
I guess I'm among the minority dropping FIYS after only one or two eps too. Lol
The drama is boring and the chemistry? I found it pretty awkward to be swoon worthy. Lol again.
