Summer 2023 K-dramas have been just okay except for the breakout hit Moving on Disney+ but it’s time for the spate of fall 2023 K-dramas to arrive. A bunch of posters have been released in the recent week so it’s more fun to showcase all the upcoming dramas in one post. Old school KBS sageuk Goryeo-Khitan War dropped the desolate and striking poster above, this is one drama that’s going to excite the veteran drama watchers. The new poster for My Dearest part 2 and ENA fantasy drama Moon in the Day look identical in framing but both still look good from a destined romance angle. Fun dramas Twinkling Watermelon and Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon have the same bright and colorful drama while A Good Day to be a Dog makes it clear which pair is the OTP and who is the odd man out. And if you want dark manly dramas there is The Worst of Evil and Evilive doing the tense dude thing.
This year 2024 has been a slow year for K-actress Suzy in terms of her…
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…
Well this is an interesting pairing, setting aside the age difference at least I can…
I swear I just wrote about Song Joong Ki having his first baby and then…
At the end of the day, the core of any good drama remains the Story,…
If I didn't know this drama was a romance set in space and done K-drama…

K Drama is lacking a pretty visual for women lead. The MC visual is pretty meh while the Male lead is swoon worthy. Yes beauty is in the eye of beholder but it's hard to compare when the male actor is so handsome for eg Rowoon, Cha Eun Woo.
Seol In Ah is so gorgeous tho...
The primary consumers for dramas (outside of really big hits) are women... guess we like to see average looking girls pretend to date handsome men! But I totally agree that the visual standards for female leads has gone down a lot.
Because majority of the drama watchers are women and most of them watch drama for good looking male leads. So, most actors are chosen for their face even if they don't gave any acting experience. That's why you see many talented actors still playing second fiddle to an inexperienced actor.
Really? I think aside from Kim Go Eun, Kim Da Mi, and others like them who are on the average-looking side, female leads in general are very conventionally beautiful, which makes sense since Korea is very beauty-centric. Heck, even those idol-actresses who are bad at acting get lead roles just because of their looks and popularity, so I don't get this comment. If anything, I think female leads are better-looking than male leads in general. Sure, there's Cha Eun woo, Rowoon, and Minhyun, but these super good-looking male leads are not the majority, most of male leads are only in the Park Seo Joon/Park Hyung Shik level, which, I'm not saying they're ugly, but not exceptionally good-looking or anything. Meanwhile, almost all the female leads I've seen in KDramas are gorgeous and make me insecure lol. It's the same in Hollywood, the female lead would look like Megan Fox and the male lead would look like Ryan Reynolds, Adam Driver, or whoever bland-looking male actor they're currently hyping up lol
Are Minhyun and Rowoon considered super goodlooking though?🤔 Imo they are not that good looking. Also, I find Rowoon's face quite unnatural. And about Minhyun, even in lovely liar I found Jihoon much attractive. I guess that's just me.
@Jammy Well, we all have our preferences. I myself am not a fan of Rowoon's visuals. And yes, I'm more attracted to Jihoon over Minhyun too, so I get you. I just used them as examples since they're the ones generally considered by KDrama fans as exceptionally good-looking, like every discussion about them almost always revolve around their looks. Minhyun is also often compared to Cha Eunwoo
lol what? out of all the males mentioned in this article, only cha eun woo is gorgeous, the others are meh 😂
as a man, i don't agree with this comment. one of the reasons why I watch korean shows is because of the beautiful ladies. some of my female friends would also tell me this and that actress looks average to them when the actress looks beautiful to me. idk, men and women probably just have different perspectives when it comes to beauty 🤷♂️
Excuse me? CEW's leading lady, Park Gyu Young is gorgeous. A different thing is that they are styling her to look more "average" on purpose, with that horrible haircut, so female viewers will identify with her.
This year so far my fav is Destined with you
