This week the C-drama Amidst a Snowstorm of Love got its airing permit with 32-episodes scheduled, a cut down from the original 40 filmed. The word on the street is that this drama may be one of those sudden airings on Tencent especially as winter arrives the the whole backdrop of the overseas scenes was filmed in the dead of winter in Europe along with the whole snowstorm in the title. Starring Wu Lei and Zhao Jin Mai, the drama is adapted from a novel and both leads have strong reputations within the industry as being able to act. And with the rumor that Wu Lei is eschewing C-dramas to focus on building a movie career, this may be his last drama in the near future so I pray pray it ends up good.

I'm fond of both leads so I hope this one does well for a modern drama.
Another flop about to hit the air. That cutting down says enough.
I wish they would let the production team air dramas as they have been filmed as long as they meet the criteria for episode count. Reducing it by 8 episodes means that we will lose some plot momentum or some things won't make any sense ala Til The End Of The Moon and other noteworthy, interesting dramas I wish would have had the opportunity to better tell their story. I love both leads and would definitely check this one out. Hope it lives up to its hype, but being a romcom, a lot will depend on the chemistry between the leads. Thankfully, they are close in age.
I like them and both can act so finger crossed that they have chemistry!!! One thing I learned about C-Dramas is that a lot of pairings may SOUND good on paper but actually have zero chemistry…and others you didn’t think wouldn't be compatible will surprise you.
I am starting to wonder if they don’t do tables reads or if chemistry doesn’t matter as long as big names get investors through the doors.
The plot sounds so bad actually 😅
I always find Cdrama way too long. So I don't think it's a bad to reduce the number of episodes.
Totally agree with you. Also some scenes are unnecessary, just like kdrama doing their cuts to 16 eps max or 2 sets of 12 this is more efficient. Can allow for quality.
Agree
Same here. So glad that the 40 ep. cap happened. Another sign of major improvements happening to Cdrama. Recently watched The Bionic Life, at excellent watch at 12 episodes.
I also agree, gosh there are a lot of drama back then pushing for 80 ep but it’s mostly filler episodes
I know WL and ZJM will deliver great performances but if the story isn't as great even great acting can't save it...so I'll cross my fingers and hold my breath until this ends airing. lol
I'm all for shorter dramas, but just wondering what kind of stuff that they can cut from a harmless romance drama, for up to 8 episodes worth.
I'm assuming something does not meet approval, hence the cut.
Cutting down episodes in cdramaland is never ever good news
