So the C-drama that Xiao Zhan is signed up for with the Chinese title translated tentatively as Tibetan Sea Opera and the English title Legend of the Hidden Sea has a new female lead name attached. Originally the female leads were rumored to be either Li Qin or Li Yi Tong, but now it looks like the role will go to Zhang Jin Yi. This is of course just the industry casting melon and is still a long ways from confirmed but I’m game for this pairing though I can also see the usual criticism of Zhang Jin Yi having too flat a delivery and affectation in her acting. I liked her in Lighter and Princess but she’s like the opposite of over-acting haha.

I actually like Zhang Jin Yi so this rumored pairing is game for me, but I'll probably tune in only if I like the sypnosis.

ZJY can act but not overact. Good for Xiao Zhan. I thought Bai Baihe was the best FL among all XZ's costars. But her tepid chemistry with XZ in Sunshine by My Side disappointed me. I only saw a passionate cute Shen Yang infatuated with a very capable professional senior in the industry that were equally reciprocated. Some critics said that BBH's performance in SSBS was underwhelming. I sorta agree.
I only watched Lighter and Princess among ZJY's dramas. But it's enough for me to root for her. Other than comedy and Jokers, I do think any overacting is bad. LOL

It's most likely her, according to most reliable melon masters. But overall, it's mostly irrelevant who is the FL.
This is a big male lead revenge drama and the second male lead, a veteran actor, also awesome name, is the one who will have the most screen time with him. The FL is not very important so it is good for an actress like ZJY who is still a relative newcomer to get a chance to act with them and be directed by Zheng Xiaolong.
Agree about the "under-acting" LOL but ZJY's gorgeous. She looks like a young Song Hye Kyo. But this pairing seems more interesting than Xiao Zhan and Li Qin/LYT.
Oh that's cool! I like ZJY's acting, very natural and grounded. I think with a little more experience/coaxing her acting could become even more nuanced.
I hope the drama can officially announce about the cast list soon, they are rumoured to start filming next month and we're already in the final week of November.
