The Success of The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract Leads K-netizens to Marvel at Lee Se Young’s Acting Talent and Drama Picking Skills Wondering What is Her Career Making Role to Date

So yeah, Lee Se Young is a queen, if not one already then a queen in waiting because she is so underrated as one of the success stories of the child stars turns adult actors in K-ent. It probably happened because she’s right behind Moon Geun Young, same gen with Park Eun Bin, and then had the child star Kim girls Kim Yoo Jung and Kim So Hyun right behind her. Yet here she is, delivering hits and always the most exquisite of performances whatever the role. K-netizens are loving her per usual and is recently discussing what is her to date career role/performance/drama. There are votes aplenty but I’m giving it to Red Sleeve Cuff, the sageuk that makes you, breaks you, and then envelopes you. There are also votes for her currently airing Story of Park’s Contract Marriage and earlier dramas The Crowned Clown, Kairos, and A Korean Odyssey.

  • She was great in A Korean Odyssey! The FL being disapointing, her character really shined, she was cute with Lee HongKi.

But my favorite role was in The Crowned Clown. Except the end, this drama was great. She was stunning as a queen.

Kairos was really good but it's more the writing that let an impression.

The Red Sleeve was disapointing. They focused on Junho instead of her character...

  • My opinion which I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with: she has better chemistry with Bae In-hyuk in The Story of Park's Contract Marriage than she did with Lee Junho in The Red Sleeve. I'm certainly enjoying this recent drama more, maybe it's because of the fantasy elements in it. The only other drama of hers I like this much was The Korean Odyssey (didn't like the main leads romance as much, but she had this cute thing going on with Lee Hong Gi).

    • Totally agree. They are probably not dating in real life but I do believe theres genuine fondness of each other that translate well from offscreen to onscreen. Their promotional appearance are simply adorable. Like theie chemistry alot better than red sleeve. Also concur its due to the heavy focus on him not her leading to her rather unimpressive showing on that drama

    • I leaned more into Lee Junho before TSOPMC happened. And OH BOY Seyoung and Inhyuk ate and left no crumbs in the chemistry department! I used to think that there would be no noona-dongsaeng pairing that could top Jeon Jihyun and Kim Soohyun in My Love From The Star but TSOPMC couple proved me wrong.

  • I always keep my eye on PEB and her since the very beginning. I love both. They are endearing and have similar story. They are not famous from the very beginning of their child actor days unlike KYJ and KSH. But they consistently build their career and be who they are now.

Even back then i adored LSY a tiny little bit more than PEB. Hence I am so glad that now she also gets the recognition and praise from the public for her acting and experience.

Hard work will never betray you indeed. And it almost took 30 years for some. But nothing can beat the outcome of that long process.

    • 92liners has some incredibly talented actresses who worked quietly in supporting roles or smaller roles for many years before moving into leading lady status.

LSY, Park Eun Bin, Kim Ji Won, they all natural beauties who never had a single bad performance even in their rookie days and got their breakout from smaller roles or 'surprise hit' dramas. Happy to see them all in good dramas this year!

  • I think that she shines more in this one than in The Red sleeve , even if i prefer The red sleeve, . What i like about Lee Se Young it's that even if i find her really pretty and charming , she doesn't have the kind of beauty that koreans love so much which it doesn't overshadow her acting . The same goes for Park Eun Bin .They aren't typecasted . Articles talk about their talent not about only beauty . An actress as Song Hye Kyo suffered from her visuals for years before getting recognition .

  • I haven’t watched this latest one yet but I don’t think she has found THAT breakthrough role yet. She‘s solid and consistent but even as a FL her MLs have been more established or buzzworthy than her or her role was just not written as interesting as the ML (combination of all). She’s lovely but it’s a quiet elegant flower vase type of beauty so she’s also probably not the first choice for strong feisty or quirky FL driven dramas. I’m not sure whether she’ll ever be at the top but at least the type who’s reputable and consistently gets good work/ scripts.

  • Shes someone who has alot of emotion even when stationary, even without lines. I find her and PEB the most talented in their agegroups. She also has a knack for picking good projects. The praises are really justified.

  • I also voted The Red Sleeve. She's still impressive and pretty funny in Park's Marriage Contract. But I can't warm up to Bae In Hyuk. Perhaps he'll be more interesting when the plot progresses in later eps. I'm still following, although a bit lukewarm.

    • I would say a combination of Lee Se Young's top acting, and other currently airing K-dramas being less interesting than this - it's the best out of a pretty average (or even mediocre) bunch.

    • I'm about to give up following. Nothing special. It's like a huge recycle bin of many different old tropes.

      • I have to agree on the repeated old tropes. It tires me. How many times do they have to accidentally fall on each other just to build up the romance. Yet it's still the only show i look forward to every week. I give the credit to LSY charms, her cute chemi with Bae In Hyuk, and my mood for light cute romcom

  • Junho's TRS performance was more mannered and commanding so it got more attention, but Seyoung did an excellent job as well, if more subtly? Like in that tangerine scene alone, you can see traces of shifting emotions on her face before it ultimately hardens. She deserved more accolades for that show, definitely.

It is a little sad how it cemented him as A-list right away, while she seems to still have some way to go...but I'm glad she has won high favour with the public at least.
