So while I was marathoning A Journey to Love last week a new C-drama dropped but this one is a modern drama with a time slip/soul swap concept apparently. It’s called Derailment and stars Liu Hao Cun and Lin Yi with a big promo push I saw in recent weeks. But since it’s premiere the viewership has reportedly been low around 1 million and the hot buzz has been 3000. To compare medium hit dramas go up to 8000 and super popular ones break 10,000. Reportedly the reason is that female lead Liu Hao Cun isn’t liked among C-netizens and the dramas promos while extensive did a poor job of selling the story. It was confusing and focused on Liu Hao Cun always look teary which makes the drama seem too melo and mopey while viewers want sweet romance in dramas.

Lmao I thought was a kid with the guy. Turn out she is even 1yr older than the guy. She looks really very young.
She isn't liked by C-netz because the dance academy owned by her parents had caused a 6yo girl to become paralysed from the waist down due to improper teaching methods. The little girl's parents filed a case against Liu Haocun's parents and they went to court, the court ruled that LHC's parents must compensate 400k RMB which is already atrociously low, yet LHC's parents felt that the amount is too high and kept on appealing.
What's even more absurd is Liu Haocun daring to attend a "Caring for Disability" gala, pretending to care for the disabled while her family refused to pay compensation to a little girl whom they made paralysed.
Of course the young actress should not be burden by her family's mistakes but in China, it is hard to separate the two. I am not surprise this artiste is so unpopular. I am surprised she is still cast in a drama...
Well, the rich and powerful don't care about what we commoners think. They have been washing her image for quite some time and it has worked to some extent. She now has people praising her about how her looks are innocent-looking and refreshing compared to other young actresses.
Oh...that was her. I remember reading the news and seeing the photos/clips. I was feeling very very upset and angry with the abuser...Not a trainer but a Abuser.
Then the compensation lawsuit appeals really got me very upset with this couple.
Apart from the incident with the little girl, I think c-netz overly wasn't impress by her acting even though she's a Zhang Yimou girls (actresses that he casted in his movies).
Feels like a classic case of one misstep plunge you into abyss. While I don’t know whether she has good relationship with her family, I’m sure she would’ve been able to pay for it. She could just have paid it and cut ties with her family (if their relationship is not good).
Her career would’ve been smooth sailing if not for that.
Nobody cuts ties with their family so easily? She would be called an ingrate too since her parents own a dance school and presumably that's how she became a dancer and got to Beijing Dance Academy where she met Zhang Yimou and got her shot to fame. Without her parents she wouldn't get a headstart in dancing and be where she is today.
Also you need to consider the possibility that she strived hard to enter the entertainment industry because of her parents had financial issues with paying 1.2 million yuan. It is very common in HK that actors come from families that have debts, and she is not the only case. That said I find her acting really so-so and she isn't particularly likeable offstage and sounds very delusional when talking about her talent lol
She was 12 when that happened. 20 when her parents paid the compensation, according to Wikipedia. She only started acting at 22.
When I read wikipedia, I interpreted it as her parents only finally paid as she was preparing for her film debut and not wanting it to impact her career. While I don't think it's her fault, I still find it quite despicable that her parents appealed it for 6 years. The little girl was 6 and will be paralyzed for the rest of her life. Her parents will require a ton of money to care for her. It's just a sad situation all around.
I've watched this drama and somehow enjoy it. The acting isnt bad. The characters arent bad also. The plot is somewhat confusing but not bad. I dont really have other drama to watch since i stopped watching Journey To Heaven. Need a new drama for year end holiday.
If you don't mind watching variety show, I highly recommend to watch Divas Hit The Road Season 5, including all its extras like its Plus versions. It's super funny and great for holiday mood imo. You can ignore/skip over the very few parts that are obviously inserted to get the authorities' approval for broadcast.
Thank you for the recommendation. I've watched the Tencent award show last night without engsub but im not that fluent tho. So i need to watch Divas hit with engsub, do you know where to watch it with engsub? But without engsub is still ok with me. I sometimes watch hello, saturday too.
It's available on youtube! But I'm not sure to what extent were subbed though, you can check these two channels in the following links:
