Itβs new year with good news for beleaguered C-drama The Golden Hairpin. After countless fits and starts and various actors attached to the re-shoot, the final contender Peng Guan Yin has reportedly finished his re-shoots and the drama is headed to post-production. This is the S-level drama starring Wu Yi Fan and Yang Zi that went into limbo after his scandal and arrest for sexual assault. The drama was fully finished filming and too much money sunk in to just never air so the production decided to find a new male lead to re-shoot as much as possible and also AI his face into the farther away scenes. The original replacement was Lin Geng Xin who actually re-shot a few days worth before leaving the production. I feel like this drama is a win-win, if itβs good after re-shoots then the replacement male lead enjoys the credit, if it sucks no one will blame him since there was very little to work with. Yang Zi has added this drama and her female lead character to her agencyβs promos for 2024 in another sign that it will for sure air now.

Yes. I hope it will be a good drama. πππ

Definitely ππ
I can't wait for this drama to finally airπππ½ππ½
I loved him in Confidence! Great!
I was going to miss this drama regardless how great the drama was when I learnt it was Kris Wu as lead....I really have strong dislike over this guy since a long time ago...He always gives me the creeps...
But now it is "replace", I am curious...I hope it will sill turn out entertaining... I will not hold expectation...will watch it as it is...
It has hard to find someone tall enough and with similar built to replace Kris...
I never like KW from the beginning because I always felt that he is arrogant. He gave me the impression that he thought he is better than anyone. I never thought he looks handsome.
I dont find him handsome too...I never understand why he was so popular...reminds me of Zheng Shuang. Never understood why she was popular...
Beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder...
@ HL
I know what you mean. Iβm so glad I donβt have to see KWβs arrogant attitude anymore. π
@XZF, KW was already a nuisance to many Kpop fans when he was in EXO. He always had that face in public with his group, looking very detached as if he were trying to say: you owe me! LOL. But he soon withdrew from EXO to return to China. It was said that He hadn't been happy with his idol life in SK. So, understandable if he always looked broody. He wasn't considered successful in SK given that Kpop had always been a cut-throat showbiz and the competition was already fierce back then. Therefore, it surprised me that he even became so famous and popular in China since he always appeared as a talentless entertainer to me. I didn't even know he could act???? LOL.
@ Somebody
I see. Iβm glad that he is paying for all the horrible things he did to his victims. Thanks.
I'll have to watch the trailer first before deciding whether to give it a chance. I'm curious too on how the replacement will turn out, especially the scenes where they decided to AI the face.
The extensive use of AI in this drama does interest me...but I hope this will not happen as I have a deep dislike for this type of technology. Deepface is abused by many as it became more popular then Photoshop.
And it will be a huge shame if more investors/production company uses extras to act and the apply AI to change the extra faces..It is already happening as we speak..And I find it creepy. But this save so much money...
I was not interested in the drama as the (original) leads didn't appeal to me. But now that Peng Guanying is in, I might check this out. He's a decent actor & IMO visually better than KW.
I have never seen this guy before but he looks handsome in the first pic. But he doesn't look that great in the last pic where he's in the costume. I hate how they do most of the guy's eyebrows in costume dramas. It makes them look weird.
That's an older pic of him from Princess of Lanling King.
@ Irisz
Thank you. That picture scared me because I thought if he looks like that in this drama. I may not watch it.
I've seen him in a few dramas. My fave drama of him is the controllers.
Peng Guang Ying is one of the actors that looks more handsome when they get older, just like richard gere
@ chris
Yes. I agree with you about PGY & Richard Gere.
