The cast of this C-drama was probably the first production to kick off filming in 2024, as the filming commenced on January 2nd and the cast has been hard at work in Hendian since. The drama is called Moonlit Reunion (Zi Ye Gui or Midnight Return) and is adapted from a novel but not of the same title. Starring Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei, the synopsis is vague but I’m interested due to the pairing of these two leads. Xu Kai long cemented his male lead top billed status for a few years now but Tian Xi Wei is really rising fast and if her next drama Guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang turns out to be a hit I can see her vaulting to top billed herself in a future project.

Xu Kai's last 3 dramas hit do as well as expected. Viewers may be getting tired of him in costume dramas. Too bad, Wonderland of Love had better acting from him, but the story crashed. He has modern ones with top actresses. He needs to turn the tide.
