I’ve used this phrase “Stop trying to make Fetch happen” before with a few actors and actresses who I feel keeps getting cast in lead roles despite being unable to deliver a good performance and/or ratings. K-actress Shin Hyun Bin has been in hit dramas like Hospital Playlist and Reborn Rich but she is not the reason for the success and in fact RR succeed despite her being an actual void there. She was like negative energy opposite other stars shooting off fireworks from their entire beings in acting prowess. And yet here she is cast again as the female lead in a rom-com of all things, and opposite really promising and charismatic young rising actor Moon Sang Min to boot. The poor boy, this is his second leading drama but also back-to-back noona-dongsaeng romance, the first was Wedding Impossible with Jeon Jong Seo. That one had a 5 year age gap, here he is 14 years younger than Shin Hyun Bin in real life. Their characters in the drama based on the same name webtoon is also noona-dongsaeng but not that big of an age gap. I don’t care about that as much as she has never been able to convincingly essay romantic tension and chemistry for me onscreen, and if I have to watch her to be able to watch another drama with Moon Sang Min then so be it. Please I hope she proves me wrong.
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…
Well this is an interesting pairing, setting aside the age difference at least I can…
I swear I just wrote about Song Joong Ki having his first baby and then…
At the end of the day, the core of any good drama remains the Story,…
If I didn't know this drama was a romance set in space and done K-drama…
If Wang Xing Yue ever needs extra money he can be a professional dubber for…

SHB is really about as interesting as watching tan paint dry.
Tbh, I'm not excited about either.
2024 dramas have been irrelevant to me at best, and duds at worst. Fortunately I have quite a few in my list that I missed during the break. Off to watch old gems.
I'm so envious of you, i 've watched already all the past gems . My gems !
Just luckily and accidentally found Beyond Evil. The ML is sooooooooo good. I'd never watched him before. K-ent has so many cool old gems. Nice to find one more. LOL. I quit QoT again off to follow BE and I'm hooked. LOL. QoT just doesn't have allure to captivate me.
Beyond evil, i love it , and also the remake of Luther "Less than evil" with Shin ha kyung too ! I enjoy watching QOT but i'm begining to find it repetitive . I like Lovely runner but it just began . Nothing uncovered and Wonderful World , for me you can pass . Others dramas that i liked watching not all are gems and you may not like the genres , don't know if they are still good, as some dramas tend to not age well . Through the darkness, Blind, The good detective Season 1, Mouse (Lee seung gi), Suspicious partner, 365 repeat the year,Train,Itaewon class,Kairos,Special labor inspector Jo,Stove league, Chief Kim, Class of lies, Graceful family,Live, Save me, The Village (Achiara's secret), Introvert boss,...to name a few ones
What is with this actress and why does she keep getting lead roles? I've seen her in at least 4 dramas because I just so happen to like the plot and her co-stars--and in each one, I was left feeling so meh about her. Never mind the bland looks, but the acting and aura are also just as boring. Almost didn't finish TMTYLM because of her.
This lady was the sore spot of watching Warrior Baek Dong Soo, back in the day...
Was happy when she stopped getting lead roles but thanks to HP, I'm going to have to suck up watching her play lead opposite these promising actors.
I guess I am in the minority, but I always loved seeing Shin Hyun Been - I find her very capable in expressing emotions with her face and eyes. She was especially good in Hospital Playlist and Tell me That You Love Me, but have to agree that she was meh in Reborn Rich. She does well in melos, not sure if it will be the same in rom-coms. Would say she is one of the better proper actor among the mid 80s born Korean actresses
In Warrior Baek Dong Soo she fitted the role, in HP she was ok but in RR she was just unwatchable
Yeah, Shin Hyun-Bin is really not charismatic at all, she's very pretty but so lifeless in screen. In Tell Me That You Love Me, the second female lead, Kim Ji-Hyun, and Jung Woo-Sung had way more chemistry even if it wasn't romantic. I loved their scenes when they both signed.
Moon Sang-Min is not bad, he has really beautiful eyes, but he's pretty green. In Wedding Impossible, I liked his chemistry with the FL, but he still looked like a puppy even if he's 190cm tall...
So I'm not sure about that these actors will be able to be convincing.
Agree . he has really beautiful eyes . Perhaps he should act with Kim Hye Yoon ! BWS is doing well with her . The girl has such a natural and fresh aura that i think she can melt any actor .
It would be a nice pair, both of them are super cute.
OMG yes! I thought I was the only one who thought JWS had more chemistry with KJH than her in TMTYLM. The way they communicated through sign, especially during the closure talk, actually made me cry. Then it cuts to the next scene with SHB and it feels blah again.
She was with veteran actors in her previous roles and they did all the heavy lifting. Let's see if she's able to uplift a rookie actor like MSM. Loved him in Under the queen's umbrella.
I loved their scenes together because her character was good at signing and didn't have to speak in the same time. And it was pure emotions between them.
I liked him in Under the Queen's Umbrella. But like the rookies in this kind of role, they're good at the beginning and when their character should start to open up, showing more emtions, they don't do it. So at the end, I wish to see him showing more. S
I find her probably the blandest actresses out there. And she’s not even new. She’s been in the industry for over a decade now doing lead/2nd lead roles. I can’t believe she still hasn’t improved her acting skills or developed any sort of on screen presence. If not for LSM, I’d have definitely dropped Reborn Rich because I couldn’t palate the romance they tried to shove so hard down my throat. Didn’t bother with her drama with JWS despite loving him to bits. At least I’m not a huge fan of MSM I guess…
Improving acting skills is very possible and doable. It’s something that can be learned or developed with time. Improving screen presence is a different story. Especially, for a main lead. An actor either has charisma or they don’t. It’s a natural thing people are born with. In this case, compare MSM and the actress, SHB. As green as he is, he lights up the screen with his presence. Sure his height and handsome face helps, but he’s got charisma overflowing.
Sigh. There’s just no comparison. Even the greenest actor will likely outshine her. SHB just doesn’t have any presence to compare. I don’t want to be harsh, but she’s really quite a non entity in every single drama I’ve seen her in. And she’s been in a lot of them with so many actors I love. It’s beyond frustrating. She also can’t seem to generate chemistry of any sort with anyone. I don’t even mean romantic chemistry. Just any chemistry will do. Parent, sibling, friend, whatever. Anyway, I can only hope she stays away from actors I love…
