So this is a very specific rumor rather than the usual “airing soon” type scheduling chatter so I thought it worth sharing. C-ent insiders are saying the production of C-drama Winner Is King (Feng Huo Liu Jing 烽火流金) based on the novel Sha Po Lang by famous BL novel writer Priest is going to arrive soon. It will reportedly air drop on May 1, 2024 followed by being pulled within 24 hours the same way another BL novel adapted C-drama The Spirealm (Zhi Ming You Xi 致命游戏) went about it earlier this year. This allows the production to recoup as the drama is “pirated” but really tacitly licensed. This drama was supposed to elevate leads Tan Jian Ci and Chen Zhe Yuan to the next level except it sat dormant and both ended up with other breakouts, the former with Lost You Forever and the latter with Hidden Love. This drama actually looks good so I’m all game for a bait and switch drop for fans.

Soooo who’s 1st billing for this? By logic it would be Tan Jian Ci but Chen Zhe Yuan obviously thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips
It is Tan Jianci all along. Don't think Chen Zheyuan has any chance of snatching it from him since Tan has a bigger fanbase.
Chen Zhe Yuan dares to demand equal to first billing from actresses obviously bigger than him like Dilireba and Jing Tian.
Would he willingly stay in his lane as 2nd billing to Tan Jian Ci, another liuling actor?
He can try lol but Tan Jianci's fandom is known for being really vicious. They continually harassed and slander Zhang Jingyi due to billing fights in their latest movie. Iirc they were supposed to have equal billing but Tan Jianci's fandom insisted that Tan is first billed and that Zhang Jingyi is a "billing thief". So it'll be fun to see Chen Zheyuan and his team try to fight Tan.
Tan Jia Ci's fandom is annoying as fuck. They're so obsessed with his Xiang Liu's character that it has become a cult. I didn't even mind him in the past (I've known him since Hi6 and loved his interactions with Dylan Wang) but I now avoid his works like the plague, that's how done I am with the man (thanks to his fans). There were rumors he would play alongside Cheng Yi in a project and I sure hope it won't happen (his cuckoo fans may have the gall to ask for first billing *rolleyes*)
Wasn't billing all confirmed before filming? TJC is much more senior and popular than CZY, and still is.
wasn't all this done before hidden love though? felt like his team didn't get ridic until that
@panda_eyes That's why I stopped interacting with fandoms. But a bunch of crazy people aren't going to make me stop supporting the actors I like.
Chen Zhe Yuan's team probably working hard bts to make this happen so their actor's name will be elevated especially after the Fairy Sword drama failure and the billing fiasco. I am sure they know the power BL genre holds over the vast spectrum of dramas female viewers and how it is good at making the blandest actor popular (Gong Jun) and at reviving a dieing career (Huang JunJie)
Admittedly, Gong Jun did well in WOH. It's after that drama that his limited acting skills came to light.
GJ has been always bland except for WOH. But his costar in WOH was pretty good who's the one carrying the drama mostly. What GJ did in WOH just to make sure his stares looked gay. LOL.
@Somebody - No one really carried WOH. It is the whole production team - costume designers for the colorful outfits, cinematography, special effects - which made the drama outstanding. I actually enjoy a lot of the side characters. ZZH character was boring as hell. GJ character has more depth than ZZH in my opinion.
I did not watch ZZH in other dramas beside WoH. He is a better actor than GJ IMO. Not a fan of either. Not even a fan of WoH but watched a few eps out of curiosity before dropping it after being mesmerized by the Untamed.
I know there's a huge BL market outside China. But so far the Untamed is still the Asian classic which is unbeatable among all as Brokeback Mountain a western classic.
@Somebody The Untamed was adapted from an already popular danmei novel, which helped a lot + the work of the actor who played Wei Wuxian. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have finished because the performances of his co-stars were so-so. I've read better danmei novels than Mo Dao Zu Shi but we'll probably never see live action adaptations. Are you going to see Winner Is King?
@Somebody
Both GJ and ZZH were only good in WoH and bland in other dramas. ZZH is as stiff as a piece of plywood in YunZi opposite JJY but slightly better in Ruyi Pavilion and the best in WoH.
He was accused of cheating by his then-girlfriend, and they later even got back together. He was on a semi-hiatus and only filmed short dramas before the success of The Spirealm. I guess now he'll be back to full length dramas.
BL is like a miracle medicine. Can't believe Huang Junjie is now having a career revival despite his dating scandal and horrible acting. He's even in talks for An He Zhuan as the second male lead. And this all happened without the drama actually airing properly in China lol so imagine if it wasn't taken down. With that said, this time I'm supporting Chen Zheyuan's team. Hopefully they'll successfully get it released so I get to watch it.
I'm behind. What is the dating scandal of old? thanks.
If CZY can't recovers from his billing fiasco, he is doom. C-Ent is choked full with young, talented, good looking people that waiting in line to replace him soon. Heck! There are even plenty of Douyin actors who are better looking and more talented than him.
Liu Qing! (Manly yum) and Shen GaoNan!!!!!
Haha, I think Shen Hao Nan is the most fav among the Douyin actors. For the more matured ones, Yu Long and Wang Chen Peng take the cake.
Sorry, I meant HaoNan. He’s my favorite too. What a smile. I watch every one I can find of him.
