Production Company of K-movie Version of Soulmate with Kim Da Mi and Jeon So Nee Planning to Re-release Movie in Theaters After Male Lead Byun Woo Seok’s Recent Breakout in Lovely Runner

So this idea feels like a fan service mixed with an attempt to wring just a little bit more money out of a smallish film. Reportedly the production company of the K-movie remake of Soulmate, the award winning C-movie of the same name, is planning to re-release of the 2023 film in theaters. The reason is of course the sudden stratospheric rise to fame of male lead Byun Woo Seok, who really was there in the movie as the McGuffin as was the male lead in the original movie. The story revolves around the two polar opposite best friends and soulmates which in the K-version was played by Kim Da Mi and Jeon So Nee. I didn’t hear the K-version was bad but it always felt like an indie movie and received that level of box office when it premiered last year. If it can get a second go-around and more K-viewers check out this movie and it’s lovely story then it’s a worth it.

  • Da Mi and Woo Seok were cute together, but I did not like this storyline AT all even though it was based off on the relationship of two best friends.

  • I watched Chinese and Korean version, and Chinese version way MORE better than Korean. Lead actress (in the middle on first photo) wasn't convincing, they changed little details and made relationship between three of them and their story flatter.
I recommend to watch Chinese version first.

  • It's quite stupid, his role never was important in the fist place.

To be honest, I never liked this story and didn't understand the success of the original movie.

  • I have ZERO interest in watching the Korean remake of one of my favourite movies ever, Soul Mate was perfection thanks to the chemistry between Zhou Dongyu and Ma Sichun, but I absolutely LOVE your use of Macguffin to describe the male lead. Brava!

  • I only know the C-version but if the K-version is similar this is such a cash grab by the movie makers as the male lead is barely a lead. McGuffin is a great description from koala as he is more of a plot point than a fully realised character. The focus of the story is very much the female characters and their relationship. The male lead is also a red flag too so fans coming to this after falling in love with his dreamy character in Lovely Runner will be sorely disappointed.

I found the original such a frustrating story so I don't have any interest in the remake.

  • i get he's the hottest thing right now, but re-releasing a movie where he's not even the lead feels like a strange choice.

  • It doesn't cost money to watch drama but it costs momey to watch movie. If the movie was flop before then, I don't think it's gonna be hit now just because ML has more followings now. Also, he has a supporting role in the movie .
