Gotta give it to director Guo Jing Ming (Edward Guo) for bringing something fresh and different to the period drama genre in terms of promos. His next drama is the xianxia and mystery period drama Fangs of Fortune (formerly titled The Story of Mystics) starring Hou Min Hao and Chen Du Ling along with what appears to be half the cast returning from his last drama My Journey to You. The drama hasn’t been rumored to air anytime soon but it’s summertime so always good to drop new goodies to feed viewer interest. The drama released an official MV for the ending theme song “Little Poetic Phrase” which is nothing new except it’s filmed with the entire cast singing and dancing like they are the newest co-ed xianxia K-pop idol group set in fantasy pre-China times. Everyone had to learn the dance and you can see who is good (former K-popper Cheng Xiao is head and shoulders above lol) and who is muy awkward (nearly everyone else haha). But everyone is giving it their all and the song is catchy and the dancing cheesy and I couldn’t stop watching all the way to the end.

Is it just me or does Neo Hou's face look a little different now? LOL.
@lyss
Neo does look different. Maybe it’s the make up….The MV is kinda of weird. The westernized dance routine doesn’t fit the song.
I have not watched Chen Du Ling much. So I am surprised she got cast as the female lead in xianxia series which actually carries high expectations on deity-like beauties. Anyway I guess some people may find her exceptionally beautiful…..
His nose seems a bit straighter and strange. So maybe he fixed his nose and then the tons of make up they put on them just adds to the oddness. It sticks out so much.
@Rei In the latest dramas in the xianxia genre that I have seen, there are actors who do not fit in ethereal beauty either, nor with the use of makeup and filters. LOL. I do not find Cheng Du Lin conventionally pretty but I have read comments that point out she is a beauty, so subjectivity is not denied to anyone. She looked gorgeous to me in The Till The End Of The Moon stills, but I found her ordinary when I was already watching the episodes. LOL.
@lyss
Yes I find CDL looks ordinary… and her acting is ok but not spectacular. She must be having a good manager to get her good leading roles. These days we can’t trust the posters…. Sigh
If indeed neo hou went for surgery then it’s a great pity…
He looks different in every drama,thats why they call him "out of comic boy",with makeup and different hairstyles and outfit he can turn into a whole different person ,he also now plays a fairy boy with short white hair and I my jaw drop seeing him, he look so different.
The water covering his supposed abs makes me wonder if that was done on purpose? Cdramas crack me up with the make up shadowing and such to make these seemingly skinny men seem buff buff. Not judging but it does look odd in the poster. I’m sure he has some muscles. 🤷🏻♀️Not hating lol
LOL. He has a toned body, but he is not bulky.
Lol that plastic surgery. Dude. Stop. It already looks terrible.
I don't think I've seen a Guo Jingming drama I enjoyed. as much as I like to call Yu Zheng a troll, he at least occasionally produces fun dramas to watch.
My observation about Guo Jing Ming is that he uses many elements that he doesn't know how to handle later. LOL.
Agreed.
Not a fan of Guo Jingming himself, but I'll admit that I have and do enjoy some of his works mostly his films (Tiny Times, The Yin-Yang Master, Wuliang and Paint Skin - GJM version) and the one singular drama (My Journey to You).
The Tiny Times films are a guilty pleasure that I rewatch because there are just so many pretty faces and for Kai Ko (before his drug scandal).
Awww…this was cute and weird and I kinda loved it !
Chen Du Ling is such a plain jane. I don’t know how she found her backer. I would have gone for a prettier woman.
So awkward that Hou Ming Hao looks better than her, drag or not lol.
If I was her I wouldn’t wanna be partnered with a guy that looks better than me. Obviously I would have to be the prettier one.
I don't think he looks better than her. He looks botched and he has more makeup than her. Why you should be the prettier one? 😅 Women only value for themselves and men is their beauty? Nobody is writing acting related comments.
LOL. He isn't pretty. He doesn't have any feminine features. LOL. I find him above-average in modern dramas tho.
This again? Some of you really need to stop with these internally misogynistic comments.
The MV looked so cringe worthy. Embarrassing dance! LOL.
I found the plot of My Journey to You empty without much substance nor meaningful development in the first few eps. So I quit very soon from the start. I like HMH as the ML in A Girl Like Me. Nothing was interesting from him thereafter. I'm indifferent to CDL. That being said, I can overlook all the uninteresting factors if the script and the directing are good. But GJM? His works haven't impressed me yet except for the drama he generated on the variety show, I'm the Actor. LOL.
Lol. It's so weird, it's endearing.
So that’s what immortals do to alleviate boredom in the realms
I am really looking forward to this drama, hopefully, they will release it soon seeing they start promoting the drama. Neo Hou looks so good looking
