• I normally get nervous when there's such a huge list of big stars. But in Kim Soohyun, I trust. He really has a knack for picking scripts and has rarely, if ever, disappointed me.

  • Agree with you, he does choose a good scripts. Some people seems to hate one ordinary day, but the premise of the drama just sold to me right from the start. The extreme of him enjoying the night before and the devastation after is just written so well

    Ahh how I wish my fav actor would also have this skill of his. My fav keeps repeating the cycles of picking good script then continous bad scripts😩😩

    It’s lee junyoung, debuted in 2017, nicknamed so junyoung become he works like a cow, pumping out several drama per year.
    His works are: avenger social club, goodbye to goodbye, class of lies, good casting, please don’t date him, imitation, d.p., let me be your knight, love and leashes, may I help you, brave citizen, badland hunter, mask girl, the impossible heir, dreaming of freaking fairytale.

    Look at how many he did and just look at the pattern. I really hope he get his breakthrough drama before he enlist next year 😩😩

• WDH will be playing a special guest? hmm so the rumor about kim nam gil join knock off might be special guest as well since he was spotted after script reading with the casts.

• I think Kim soo Hyun should better work with top writer director like Kim eun shook.He is doing this knock off drama right after big hit qot. What if knock off fails like one ordinary day he will be doomed from top position and the writer and director of knock off is not good they don't have any big hit like park ji eun and Kim eun shook.

  • One Ordinary Day was a big success for Coupang Play being its first ever drama. And no, he will not be doomed if Knock Off is not a success, no actor has 100% success rate. Kim Eun”Shook” has duds too.

  • Why should he be constrained to working with only hit makers. I wouldn’t trade one ordinary day with any other drama. In OOD we could see one of his best performance. Shouldn’t that be what he strives for as an actor of his calibre? He already won high ratings series in his 20s. Let him pick projects that he feels will be beneficial for his skills without thinking about ratings.

  • Other than PJE, KSH has always worked with rookie or unknown writers so nahhh. He knows to pick a great script. That’s his biggest talent.

    He worked with Park Hye Ryun when she was still a rookie in Dream High. His biggest ratings hit, Moon Embracing the Sun, was also with an unknown writer back then. His then agency Key East told him not to do it but he insisted, obviously a brilliant decision. In fact, PJE herself never wrote a rom com or miniseries before MLFTS. That was also another risk KSH took because he believed in the script. Same with IOTNBO’s writer. Lastly, OOD is not a flop lmao. Not being popular amongst international viewers doesn’t make it one. Look up its numbers and impact for Coupang Play’s subscriptions. It’s all open info on Naver or Daum. KSH’s eye for scripts is something I trust far more than a star writer’s name. That’s what got him to the very top, and what keeps him there too. And no, even if Knock Off doesn’t do well, KSH won’t be “doomed” LOL. No actor is ever doomed due to 1 bad project, and especially not S-tier actors.

    • But knock off writer /director track record are not that good their every drama are pretty much mediocre and flop expect secret forest2 and after the success of qot I think he should work with good writer and undoubtedly Kim eun shook is one of them and if Kim so hyun get a chance to work with her it will very good. Like Lee min ho ,song Jung ki, song hye kyo Kim woo etc . Till date Lee min ho is the biggest hallyu star by the way more than Kim soo hyun

    • But knock off writer director are not rookie oneand their track record are not good either except secret forest2. And by the after huge success of qot he should work with good writers and Kim eun shook is undoubtedly one of the best writer and if get a chance to work with her Kim soo Hyun should work. Lile Lee min ho, song Jung ki song hye kyo and Kim woo bin did. And now look at Lee min ho the biggest hally star compared to others.

      Like @butterfly stated, KSH fans trust his ability to see a good script more than a blindly trusting a star writer’s name. Your beloved Kim Eun “Shook” wrote a certain Eternal King quite recently whereas KSH has not had a ratings fail his entire career, so your concern sounds very counterfeited lol. He may eventually work with KES one day if he likes the script, or maybe he never will. She doesn’t need him nor he her seeing as to where he is today (hint: Everest).
      Btw the PD you keep insulting has a Baeksang Best PD award and its not for Stranger 2 ;)

      So you think KSH should be choosing a writer for their name value (i.e. KES) instead of going by the quality of a script? All that so he can (in your opinion) be the “biggest hally star compared to others”. LOL yea thanks but no thanks. Pretty confident 99.9% of his fans would rather he pick challenging scripts that allows him to show how good an actor he is. Sometimes, that does align with star writers as was the case with QOT. Sometimes its with writers who have written some terrible dramas (i.e. IOTNBO's writer also wrote Jugglers prior which... the less said the better).

      KSH's track record in dramas so far is 100% successful so once again let me clearly emphasize - I 100% trust his ability to pick scripts way more than I trust a star writer's brand value. He doesn't need that to stay on top.

  • I don't think Kim Eun Sook is a good writer, to be honest. Hitmaker, yes.
    I watched The Heirs and Descendants of the sun, and they were weak as hell. I finished both of them only because of Kim Ji Won (and Kim Woo Bin in The Heirs). Many Kim Ji Won fans want her to work with KES again, but I prefer to see her in dramas with mid ratings than in KES's drama again.
    Her dramas very popular, big hits, can make any actor a big star. I'm happy for some actors like Park Sung Hoon and Steve Noh working with her, as she can write good remarkable secon-lead characters, and it helping a lot for their career. But for big actors like Kim Soo Hyun I prefer them to chose better scripts, even if their dramas wouldn't have the same popularity and impact.
    Although KES last two dramas are different from others and have a lot good reviews, and I didn't watch them, so not sure if her writing skills improved or not.

    But anyway, I think very unlikely KSH will work with her. As he likes to make ad-libs in dramas, change some little details in scenes during filming, and this is probably not KES's way.

    • I'm not saying Knock off 100% will be a good drama. But the plot is interesting and gives hope for this.

    • Forever ago KES famously had beef with PSY when he changed some dialogues in Lovers in Paris haha. But she has adjusted her style since. Gong Yoo and LDW added tons of adlibs for Goblin which she loved.
      Anyway, KSH does not come across as the type of actor who would refuse to work with a writer simply due to a lack of ad-libbing opportunities lol. Moreover, such decisions are often PD driven. Based on what I've read about him, he enjoys developing characters down to the smallest details primarily through his own interpretation. If KES already has a specific vision for her character that he does not agree with, I could see it never working out. The issue is not specific to KES necessarily tho as that is the case likely with any actor.

      Hmm, I didn't know about LDW and GY's ad-libs, so probably I'm wrong.
      I just watched interview with actor from Glory, and he said that filming was different from any other dramas since the actors were forbidden to do ad-libs and was told to strictly follow the script. But he was one of the supporting actors, perhaps this did not apply to the maineas. Or, as you said, it was PD's decision.

    • @Olesya1 Actually I am a huge GY fan so followed Goblin very closely. Yook Sungjae also did quite a lot of adlibs and he was supporting cast. There are many bts videos of them on sets having a blast. I did not know about Glory and its my first time hearing about the actors being forbidden to do adlib. That sounds a little controlling lol. But I guess KES had a very specific vision on what she wanted Glory to look like because it is a new genre to her...

      Anyway, I feel like KSH is the type to adjust when it comes to smaller issues like that but will not compromise on difference in perspective when it comes to his character. Actually I don't know KSH's style as well as GY's so it is just what I gathered.

• On Naver blog, it is said Kim Nam Gil will also be making a special appearance. The story doesn’t interest me that much, but hey it’s Kim Soo Hyun so I’ll be watching.

• Kim soon hyun better work with writer like Kim eun shook or park ji eun. What he did before. Knock off writer/ director are not capable of pulling story on right way they messed up things and if this drama fails Kim soo Hyun will lost top position like his one ordinary day drama failed to grabbed audience.so he should work at least once with Kim eun shook

  • KSH acting in One ordinary day is one of the best in his career.
    I remember his character development in last episode and how this impressed me like I watched it yesterday.
    OOD can be not so popular, but this is a good drama for him as an actor.

  • one day could not remove him from his top spot and you are worried star studded knock off will… pls. why are you so obsessed with kes when you cannot even spell her name lol. if both see fit, they’ll collaborate in the future. he is super picky and there is no loyalty with kes like there is with pje.

    kes is writing a rom com and already has a very talented actor in kwb. otoh, ksh never does back to back rom coms & found a script he obviously likes so there was zero chance. you can pray for it in the future if you want it this much. most ksh fans don’t care since he can find his success with or without a star writer. if you ask me i hope it will be sageuk if he works with kes like mr sunshine. her rom coms are so hit or miss.

      I am very so-so on KES. Some of her dramas are amazing, some terrible. But her best ones imo are those that dont focus on romance like The Glory and Mr Sunshine. If KSH works with her, I also hope its in a MrSunshine-like Sageuk as he is long due for that return. However, if it comes down to just the name KES vs a better scripted Sageuk from an unknown writer, I'd rather he pick the latter. In the end, what makes a drama successful is always the quality of the script. Always.

• Koala, it will be a Disney exclusive acc to the latest article so no ratings. Unfortunate because it would have likely been huge. Oh wells, Disney is likely aiming for another Moving.

• Even if I had any reservations about the cast, I would have still watched it due to the unique, interesting premise. I want to know more about what happens behind closed doors in the luxury world. But the casting gods are so good to me this year. Kim Soo Hyun would have been well and truly enough but they said nope you also deserve some bromance lol. I have not watched a WDH drama since Mad Dog, but that’s about to change. He was good there and I expect him to be ways better many years later.

• A more star studded cast I’ve yet to see in recent times. Surely this is the end of the list??

  I hope we get lots of bromance. WDH’s chemistry with other actors is always good. I can only hope the special appearance is at least 4-5 episodes long.

  • Moving and park bo young's new drama has a high profile cast. Exciting stuff though, I'm so used to ksh in romance related drama's, can't wait to see his chemistry with WDH.

    • Our blues too then there's the NHK's new drama which has 3 A list baeksang winners as leads, I'm liking this trend.

    • PBY’s D+ drama from the Moving team is probably more highly anticipated by others but I don’t care for it as much as the one she is doing with the OBS team. That I’ll be seated for.

      KSH’s bromance history is quite epic actually. And he has an extensive one too. Taecyeon, Lee Hyun-hoo, Park Ki-woong, Oh Jung-se, Song Jae-rim, etc. WDH and him would be pretty cool.

• How much cash does this drama have to get this many talented actors??ockoala is right, havent seen such a fun casting ruckus for a while. So many of these actors have led their own dramas for years and they all agreed to do extended special appearances and/or supporting roles. Thats very promising. Many comments already here on KSH's script picking abilities. He is second to none in that department so I can see why everyone's excited. May it live up to all this hype!
