Gulinazha the Female Lead for Director Guo Jing Ming’s Next Period C-drama Ran Shuang Wei Zhou with Male Lead Tian Jia Rui

Right after news broke that director Guo Jing Ming had two more C-dramas in preps now that he was finished with Fangs of Fortune, both starring his protege Tian Jia Rui, now comes the female lead in the first one. The drama is titled Ran Shuang Wei Zhou (燃霜为昼) and the female lead will be Gulinazha. Excuse me while I laugh offstage at the thought of these two leads, one who cannot act despite over a dozen dramas and the other basically a nugu that Guo Jing Ming is trying to make happen. But then again, stranger things have happened to succeed so let’s watch this one like a potential slow motion train wreck that could be averted at the last minute.

  • That will be yet another major flop. What a waste of money.

They would be more likely to succeed if they took two people from an amateur drama club.

  • Not her! Lol. He has acting talent, but not necessarily star quality, so he has to be paired with a leading lady who has charisma. Smh. Let's hope there's a decent story in there so he can at least try his hand at leading a drama.

  • I liked TJR in MJTY, but the jury is still out on whether he is a good actor. I don't really see him as a lead, but I would love to be proven wrong. But the odds are not in his favor with this female lead...

  • I have to really hand it to Gulinazha...she is so beautiful, I bet she get pursuit by many richer men. She can easily lead a easy life, stress free, go out on High Teas, shopping and enjoy the finer things in life, etc

But she does not want that lifestyle. Instead, she continues her dream as an actress-artiste. She know just how she is badly critized online..she knows she has many flaws but she does not give up. She will keep pushing herself forward.

Regardless how I feel about her acting...I have to admire her strength for independence, tenacity to push her own boundaries, work hard to still remain in this tough industry.

I am not going to judge her career choice as that is her choice and she is willing to bear the responsibility of that choice.
I am not her fan but I really like her spirit.
I dont have her courage to weather those online judgements she gets.
My conclusion...she must really love this industry very much.

Saying that, I would not put myself in her position if I was her...I rather pick a career that suits my strength and skills. I rather a calmer and smoother journey in my life.

Gulinazha, I hope you treat yourself and your body better...dont push yourself too much. You lost so much weight recently, it is worrying.

    • Honestly, I used to find her really beautiful although looking more western, but that was when she was more meatier and was a new face. Now, she's too skinny to be called beautiful.

    • She used to be one of the 'faces' in C entertainment. But she got bullied back then bcuz she dated Zhang Han. Since then, she rarely got any good roles.

Idk if it was bcuz of her agency or her own choice but she seemed lost in something she has loved.

I dont know her in real life or following her news religiously but she didn't go to the richest man is amazing. It takes courage to stick to one's principle.

I'll give her drama a try later. But havent finished anything with her.

      • I am not a fan of her acting...I think I only finished one drama of her- Weaving a Tale of Love. It is not a great drama but I found the drama have beautiful moments.

      • The bullying was the work of Zheng Shuang's fans. But then, the main reason Nazha couldn't get good roles is still because of her bad acting.

    • Why are you sure she doesn't want that life, she just has super high standards in men that not one fits it, I saw her LONG list of requirements for a man and I can tell you she doesnt only wanna rich man

  • I actually think Gulinazha is more beautiful than Dilraba but she doesn't have onscreen presence and charisma.

  • Gulinahza is a pretty lady but noting extraordinary: she is tall and has western features and I bet this is what draws the Chinese audience - but to us Westerners, if she were in showbiz in, I don't know, Turkey or Greece, she would never really stand out compared to local actresses. Still, I am always willing to give actors a chance to amaze me, so if the story of this drama is interesting, why not watch the girl and Tian Jiarui who seemed to have talent in MJTY, the only thing I have watched him so far.

    • Actresses in Turkey are absolutely beautiful, Goddess level. She is beautiful but wouldn't pass as a Turkish actress, their actresses are fuller in shape and definitely not pale, they all have sun kissed skin. lol

    • Agreed about the Greek. They are just born with sculpture-built mythical god/goddess like complexions. I'd say people with the Mediterranean roots look very beautiful and attractive in general.

That being said, each ethnic group has unique visual beauty in one's own way. I'm not saying one is better looking than the other. That's not the point here. But I just don't appreciate less-Chinese looks in C costume dramas, like it'd be weird to watch an East Asian face playing a pivotal role in Greek Mythology or stories in the setting of medieval Europe. LMAO. Ppl who don't find it odd for Eurasian actors to play pivotal roles in C costume dramas is ignorant of the Chinese history. When did any Europeans or Eurasians rule China in the history? Some ignoramuses have little knowledge of the Chinese dynasties and various nations in all generations. Not me though. I'm familiar with the history of each single major dynasty and small nations in between.

Ppl are laughable to argue Reba and Gulinazha fit the setting in antient China. They ARE NOT except for any reference to the people from those Eurasian nations which actually constantly fought wars with Chinese dynasties. There's a reason why Han people dominate the Chinese population nowadays cos the large part of the continent was conquered and ruled by them throughout most part of the history. LMAO. The way C-ent considers Reba and Gulinazha, not the dominant Han girls, top visuals among the Chinese actresses, speaks volume of their biased aesthetic standards that don't appear to appreciate their own genetic complexions that much. LOL. I don't see that in K-ent though. Fine if they thrive in modeling business, commercials, or variety shows. But let them stay away from C costume dramas. For modern dramas, at least find the actors who resemble Eurasians to be their parents and siblings in stories. LOL. Learn something from To the Wonderland that is at least reasonable and convincing in terms of ethnicity.

      • @Somebody "Don't appear to appreciate their own genetics complexions."

Disagree. Chinese people in general like pretty ladies, Dilraba is one of them. Most good-looking Han Chinese women in the entertainment have plastic surgery, Dilraba not.
Dilraba's ethnicy is a Chinese ethnic, I can't see the problem. Does it seems that Taiwan/China/South Korea/Japan don't have gorgeous women who can rival Western beauties for example?

What C-actresses are prettier than Dilraba? I only can recall Fan Bing Bing and Tang Yan.

Dilraba in the West would still be a pretty woman. Not a top though.

  • The recent article about Dilraba and now this one, where people are claiming that Dilraba and Gulnezer are considered beautiful because they're in China and would be just regular girls in other countries. They are objectively gorgeous girls and would be considered gorgeous in any country.

    • Ikr. Going by their words, we can also say the Chinese/Koreans that western countries picked beautiful are regular girls next door who won't stand out in C/K-ent. But whenever the Chinese/Koreans say that, these people will foam at their mouths and go on about how sad it is that the Chinese/Koreans dislike their ethnic features and whatnot. LOL.

      • I live overseas and I seem lots of beautiful White women.. But Both Dilraba and Gulinazha is still beautiful compared to them. Their ethnic features make them standout.

      • @HL Exactly. Dilraba and Nazha don't look white to me at all. But of course, there will always be some conceited people who think their western opinions are more valid over others. You see them every now and then, tagging beautiful people as looking white or commonly seen in western countries. LOL.

      • @Somebody I get what you’re saying. It requires a certain suspension of disbelief to watch Dilraba and Gulinazha in ancient period productions. On one hand, I’m happy they’re getting their time in the spotlight as minorities in China, but also, I have to pretend even more when I’m watching their dramas. Haha. Still, I hope they grow as performers for as long as they’re in showbiz.

      • @lu, yes. That's one of my main points.

Firstly, it's ok for them to act as someone from their own ethnic groups with visual resemblance in genes, like those characters in To the Wonderland. (I guess both are Uyghurs but I may be wrong.) But they also took the roles that were obviously referring to Han people where none of their parents nor siblings looked Eurasian in the drama. (Ok, some petty queen protested against saying they looked western. So here you go Eurasian but 100% not Asian LOL!!). It's just ridiculously not convincing. I always laughed when seeing these two actresses together with their drama-family on screen at the same time. I also read some netizens making the same funny comments about how they look so distractively different from their Han parents in the dramas. Were they adopted? LOL.

Secondly, while their visuals are decent, they aren't stunning beauties compared with a larger population of Caucasian and Eurasian ppl. But C-ent swoons over their visuals!? That's amusing to observe. LOL

      • @Somebody I disagree because Dilraba has objective features that, according to their beauty standard, makes her beautiful in the West. Lmao.

If she's stunning only in China, are east-asian looking actresses not stunning in the West?

    • They are entitled to their opinions. But, I don't know if they realize it or not, aren't they indirectly saying all actresses from China are ordinary? lol

Gulnezer and especially Dilraba are considered top visuals, the best of the best, in Chinese entertainment. If they're just ordinary-looking to those people, then all the other Chinese actresses must be below average in their eyes.

      • Nah...That's not the point. You took a wrong message. Some ppl including me don't think these two western-looking actresses appear that special if there were in the West. That's a FACT their visuals are more similar to westerners than to Han Chinese. I personally like to watch Chinese actresses in C drama with East Asian looks more than these two actresses with Western visuals. But it seems the mainstream Chinese beauty standards gravitate towards Western aesthetic standards, judging how they consider Reba and Gulinazha top visuals while we think they just look very ordinary in the West here. LOL.

      • @Somebody Funny how you call them "western-looking" when their whole ethnicity group lives in China aka Asia.

      • @Somebody

I see. It's just a matter of taste then.

I'm also from a Western country though and these two actresses would not be considered very ordinary here. They might look average in your corner of the "Western world" but where I live they would be seen as exotic, just like the Chinese actresses.

      • @CB, TBH, my Middle East neighbor's teen daughter without heavy makeup looks more attractive than these two actresses. LOL. They all have similar skin tone, if ppl are really so petty to insist these two actresses aren't western looking. To be precise, there are tons of Eurasian beauties around the world, the US included. They just don't look that special here. A certain gossip queen was so petty to get triggered by comments like this that just pointed out a fact from different perspectives. LOL

      • @SOMEBODY Ordinary? Lol. Dilraba has pretty features that would been aprecciate regardless the location lol. Beauty is beauty, she even has points in Western beauty standard. Is Xiao Zhan also not considered to being beautiful in the West?

  • I think Gulinazha can act, if given the right role. She needs comedic roles to shine. She's been given these ultra serious, depressing roles for ages. If she switched it up and don't care so much for how she looks, I think she can do much better.

As to ML, sorry, just don't find his face goodlooking enough. Acting is ok I guess, but not really handsome in the conventional sense.

    • I personally see Gulinazha losing more of her shine from her face the last few years...I am suspect confidence is seeping out of her, but I can be mistaken. I do wish to see her confidence back again.

  • She, like Reba, does look like an average beauty in the US and on the streets of an EU city, e.g., Paris, nothing extraordinary. It's so comical some C fans are triggered cos ppl just pointed out this fact and they rambled extensively for nothing. LMAO.

    • Your comment is weird and make nonsense, you are claiming that they look ordinary in West just cuz they look more Western "TO YOU", but did you see their presence in the global events they absolutely look gorgeous even surrounded by those Western women youre talking ab who considered top visual in the west, these ladies with their mix features that blessed with thanks to their Uyghurs roots make them special and more beautiful anywhere in the world and I can see anyone of them winning miss global international easily
What they look ordinary in the West, to who? LOL

      • @Merry Couldn't agree more. Some people just like to contradict for the sake of contradicting.

      • LOL @Merry. You basically are arguing about aesthetic standards that are subjective at best. You can rave their visuals to the moon but they don't appear attractive to many others, me included. Why are you so striving to want beat over our opinions? You're wasting time cos you won't change my opinion about their visuals. These two "Chinese" actresses don't have top visuals among all the ppl around the world, specifically in the West. It won't change how I and other ppl see them. Futile for you so desperately trying to have a knockdown argument for nothing and only for your huge ego. Nah! They would look ordinary if they were here in the US. That's a fact and won't change. There were PLENTY of similar visuals here in neighborhoods, in malls, on campuses, and at workplaces in the US, in particular, if you had a chance to walk around Beverly Hill or Manhattan downtown (that I guess you've never had and that's why your comment). LOL.

    • She is an average beauty in the US?

      AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Lord have mercy the nonsense you write on this blog.

    • @Somebody If Dilraba looks ordinary in the West, then other East-Asian women are even lower. Lol. Of course she's not the most beautiful woman in the world or Asia, but the point is that she's still beautiful. Hahaha.
