Producer Yu Zheng has been hyping up Lin Jiang Xian (formerly There is a Fox in Hengmen) for months now and I’m not allergic to his dramas on principle but other than The Double I really haven’t seen anything that made me want to watch and this one falls into that latter category as well. The character posters released earlier of Bai Lu and Zeng Shun Xi have all been weird in differing ways and the most recent drama poster released has a very 70’s slasher fic movie poster color tone that is very unappealing. I know it’s an aesthetic and it’s actively making me go hard pass haha. Of course if the drama turns out good then it’s the best kind of bait and switch.

Yu Zheng is definitely investing alot in promoting this drama... I believe this drama does not even have a define storyline. He is vague about it.
After starring in every other drama for the past couple years, I hate that she is one of those actors who plays themselves in every role. Bai Lu as Bai Lu. Lol. She can actually act well technically, but man, I only see Bai Lu and not her characters. Maybe they should help her out in the hair and makeup department. 🤔 She should do some modern work too that preferably isn’t insufferable, like her outing with Dylan Wang. Lol. Because she has such a mature look, I hope they pair her with guys who match her aesthetic. Anyways, this drama looks meh 😅
Watch Northward, it is airing soon.
I just might because I like Zhai Zi Lu 😅
You hit the nail on the head. I was wondering why I was not connecting with her. She is very pretty , is a natural in front of the camera and can act but she seems the same in every drama.
Everyone's comment is on point about her. LOL. I'm also getting indifferent to her although I did like her initially. She seemed to always have the same looks and expressions in each drama, no differentiation between her roles. Not sure why.
He has no charisma and is pretty aesthetically meh while his acting is at best passable. She is always the same in all these. Another drama to miss.
I am skipping anything with Bai Lu in it at the moment. It's not that I don't like her but it's just copy & paste with all her performances lately. I don't know if she is bored or she just knows her star power in the drama industry is so stellar she doesn't have to try anymore. Cdrama has gotten a lot better lately and former stars are not able to just coast on their popularity anymore. Bai Lu needs to pick better roles.
Hit the nail on the head. I can't believe there was a time when I was her strong fan. She gives me vibes of Yang Mi, not bothering to try anymore, as if she platued, or doesn't need to try. Well, who knows? Maybe something in life will eventually revitalize her.
Yeah that's what I've done dropping my opinion
Yeah! I'm dropping my opinion too. Any prblm?
I feel it not that she is not trying anymore but that all her roles feels similar which makes her acting feels the same. Unfortunately most chinese actors falls into this predicament eventually at some point. If only their censorship could be a little flexible and also where everyone has equal chance for the suppose what they consider ' serious dramas 'these stars can do more with their acting by having different options to chose. We always say that porpular actors chose more idol dramas but my guess is the supposed ' serious drams r handed to the veteran actors, the youngest needs to do with what is available to them. If all of them have equal chances with any drama like the Koreans, imagine how some of these actors can surprise us in terms of acting.
@Mercy, agreed. Bad scripts can't really make outstanding actors. But on the other hand, plots of C "serious dramas" are boring, not inspiring in general, unlike K dramas. Most C "serious drama" I tried to watch reek of structured lectures that I felt being preached and ended up dropping. LOL. I think censorship has greatly stymied brilliant ideas in creative writing and directing. That's the main root causing a huge gap between K drama and C drama in general.
Whoa! These people commenting even without watching their dramas....yakk
Whoa????
People do that all the time. It's all speculation. That's what entertainment blogging is for...projecting thoughts and wondering about the future based on information presented and what was shown in the past. I and others have watched almost everything Bai Lu has been in,(she was/is a top actress for a while) which is why we make comments on her acting. I don't think anyone is being mean or unfair to her here... Although one comment is coming for the ML.
If the drama airs and it's good people will naturally watch it and admit/be happy they were wrong. Or at least I will, I am never scared of being wrong about C-Ent predictions. The only actor I really go rabid for is Tony Leung and he's barely discussed here. Your 'surprise' seems manufactured as a way to virtue signal lol. Just say you're annoyed we aren't excited about it and hope we are wrong! No one will judge you. I hope you are right as well
I have NEVER been able to finish a Joseph Zeng drama and I don't know why. I like him. I generally have no problems with his acting, but I lose interest halfway through or three-quarters way through and end up dropping his dramas. I'm hoping my devout love for Bai Lu's acting will help me stick this one through to the end. So, I'm onboard for this. Hoping my experience with this drama will break the jinx of me falling out of love with Joseph Zeng's dramas after I've watched them halfway.
I might watch it for my 'Double' boys (Liang Yong Qi and Chen Xin Hai)
I like Joseph Zeng, but really don't like the white hair. Washes him out. The trailer doesn't show much chemistry between them either. Hope it is better than this.
I liked Bai Lu. I honestly did cos I checked EACH of her drama, hoping to have some good time enjoying the stories. Unfortunately I ended up dropping them all for the criticism ppl have mentioned in the comments above. Is she the "IT" girl in Yu Zheng's agency? I'm surprised there are still quite a few ppl here having the same opinions about her acting as I. I thought she was extremely popular on this site cos Koala seemed to never miss any update of her dramas though. LOL. BL has become equally state in drama and on this blogging site as well (to me ONLY ok fans PLZ don't get worked up LOL). LOL
I have nothing against these two pretty people but seriously, their acting got boring and repetitive. They lack the charisma and seem to have no idea how to deliver their roles.
I enjoy BL in her earlier era, but there was no sparkling at all after One and Only. Is it bcuz of her popularity or she just needs some times to figure things out.
Havent finished anything with JZ. His dramas were my cup of tea.
Don’t like the acting of either leads? Don’t watch. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy . lol
