First Look at Yoo Seung Ho in the Upcoming Stage Production of Award Winning Play Angel’s in America

Even if K-actor Yoo Seung Ho has yet to achieve the heights of popularity that his child actor roots primed him for he’s still one of the most successfully diverse young actors in K-ent these days. Case in point, this fall he will be on stage in Seoul in the stage production of Tony Kushner’s award winning play Angels in America. Even thirty years later the work remains relevant and is a production easy to cast with stars always interested in doing roles in the work. I’m loving his tortured poet look for this production as well, very suited for him.

  • He's so dreamy! Very handsome, charismatic on screen (when playing the right role), plus he's so talented! All he needs is a lot of promotion, to find his niche (in my opinion, he suits non-romance dramas/movies the most), and a project that will appeal to the streaming generation while also showcasing his acting skills, and I believe he'll blow up in no time!

Love this hair and overall look on him! He looks fantastic 😍

  • so handsome! the last pic is so reminiscent of so ji sub that i suddenly got reminded why he was called “little so ji sub” way back then lol. wish him all the best

  • I love him since he was a young kiddo...now I still love him. I do hope we will watch him make a good comeback with a strong drama script. He can deliver...

I am happy he is taking on stage work to continue learning and growing..

  • OH MY GOOOOODDDD... He looks so fine in those photos. Is he still in YG? Duh. They should manage their artists better.

I miss him as a villain. He was so good in a drama with YEH. I was in team Harry back then but the writernim ruined his character, huft.

He has so much potentials. Hope to see him back on small screen.

  • Actually, I dont think YSH even wants to reach the heights of popularity he did when he was younger. He's openly said how he got into acting to help out his family and its clear he doesnt enjoy being a celebrity. Its why he enlisted so young vs other actors. He also said in a recent interview that he hopes he can earn money to open up an adoption home for cats (he currently has a rescue). He also cares a lot about the environment.

I adore him and selfishly, I hope he can eventually find the passion for acting. But sometimes, we dont love what we are great at. So I can only hope he's happy with whatever he chooses to do, and I hope he can earn all the money he wants to do the world better! He's such a sweetheart and someone who I'm pretty sure has no haters. If he does, it reflects on them, rather than him.

    • Years ago, I remember him saying if he had a choice back then, he’d never be an actor. Sigh. As a fan, I really hated hearing that but hoped he would eventually miss his career. I still have hope it’ll happen. It would be too sad to not see him thrive as an actor when he’s so brilliant at it.

      • @angrybirds: That is so sad. So it seems like acting is more of a job to him than passion. It's a pity as he is very talented but, unfortunately, hasn't picked many good roles since becoming an adult. Starring in a succession of bad to mediocre projects when he already feels some resentment for having to act must have made it even harder to find enjoyment in acting. He is probably happier at this level where he has some privacy and less pressure to deliver ratings but employed enough to sustain his career and save up for the cat home (that is such a sweet thig to do by the way!) A lot of actors prefer stage to screen so perhaps this play will re-ignite his love for acting

It's odd to think he is only 30-which is younger than all the top leading men right now-but it does rather feel that he has peaked. Still all he needs is that one role to turn things around as he is still young. I hope he will find a role that will help him enjoy acting again and will re-introduce him to the newer wave of drama watchers.

    • I remember Yang Dong Geun in one of those variety talk shows, and he mentioned that as a child and then young actor he really got exposed to adults smoking, cursing, drinking, etc. He said that his parents do not accompany him during shoots, so he became friends with people on the set. The environment I think got a bit better after the child actor generation of Kim Yoo Jung, as there were more eyes on ensuring child welfare.

      • It's heartbreaking to think how many child actors had similar stories about the lack of protection. Look at what happened to young Drew Barrymore.

It's good things have improved for the better and child safety and welfare are a serious consideration now.

  • The play Angels in America has nude scenes, will Korea allow the nude scenes to be shown on stage?

  • I wish YSH had a better eye for dramas or at least a better agency to help him pick. He’s such a brilliant actor. Happy to hear he is doing something challenging. He’s no doubt up to the task!

  • Isnt this a gay play and also an adult kind of play,if i am not wrong? I him love so much and I am not sure I want see that bold side of him
