K-netizens Remarks on Lee Min Ho Turning into an Ahjusshi at the Press Conference for Pachinko Season 2

Streaming Apple TV K-drama Pachinko season 2 premieres today and this week the cast as been on a series of press tour events. I’m not interested in the drama but am happy for Lee Min Ho to land one of the male leads in this sprawling cast prestige drama and also get a broader global audience. He was supposed to be back in the small screen this year as well with When the Stars Gossip (Ask the Stars) but the airing date for that is nowhere in sight. K-netizens weren’t too happy with his visuals this week at the Pachinko press conference in Korea complaining that he’s turned into an ahjusshi. The suit is terribly cut and does him no favors and his styling is also very stodgy but everyone ages even the former teen flower boys are now nearly twenty years into their careers so of course middle age comes calling. I think Lee Min Ho can look as hot as he wants when he wants, but sometimes due to styling comes off more fuddy duddy.

  • Park seojoon doesn't look good now too, all these men aging like milk only Kim soohyun looks good in that age group.

      • I don't agree with jcw he looks too plastic. Of that generation, im siwan and haein also look funnily enough they're close with soohyun, these 88 liner besties looking so fresh and young.

    • I think ji chang wook leaves everyone behind when it comes to not aging.maybe he is a vampire :-)

    • Doe - Rich of you to talk about looks when you idolize a plastic monster. At least PSJ and LMH and even KSH, JHI and ISW are all successful with prestigious projects and critical recognition. Even JCW’s flop career is still successful than your plastic monster.

    • If we go by looks alone, Park Hae Jin is killing it at 41. Has anyone taken a look at him lately? He’s been active again on ig, mostly as part of Amotti’s workout buddies group. Imo he looks now better than he ever did and I can’t say I was into his looks that much before. So, yes, actors don’t have to be excessively slim or bulky to look good.

As for LMH, imo at 36/37 he looks a bit older than his age, he’s the type that looked best in his late teens and all throughout his 20s and as he approaches 40s his age catches up to him too much. As it was already stated, similar to LeoDC.

  • All these weight obsession.. This society is just putting stupid pressure on its own people to be forever slim, forever young and forever never growing older.
Just accept nature of life.. people mature, age. All these are cycle of life.
I may not be a fan of Lee Min Ho, I think I watched 2 of his dramas only. But he does not deserved to be body shamed, as we age, metabolism slows down.. I believe Lee Min Ho may have some health issues that may affect his ability to be slim as he was before.

  • But doesn’t he have to look a certain way for his role in Pachinko? He looks pretty same to me so silly. Can’t be anorexic thin forever. Aging happens eventually. I’m sure after this he might lose it now but please no more plastic surgery. Even American actors that have been aging are getting so much flack and ruining it with more plastic surgery. Unfortunately aging happens they just need to take care of themselves.

  • I can't remember netizens NOT complaining about anyone's look, tbh. Someone got harsh critic, someone light critic, byt this is always following actors, especially when they aging and don't look like flower boys anymore.
Their face is their acting ID. I read interview of some actors who waits to look older to play some roles (KSH said in his interview during QOT promotion that he wants to play Kim Gab Soo's character, when he will be look suitable for that role).
I don't see ahjussi here. He just looks like 36 yo man. But for an actor "ahjussi look" can bring more various roles in the future, so I'm personally think this is not bad thing.

    • I kid you not, those people complain over nothing and everything. I agree with you that an ahjussi look can be a good thing. He doesn't look like a flower boy, cause he's 3 years shy of 40 and probably doesn't feel the need to look like he's in his 20s. They should allow him act his age please.

  • he looks as usual as he always look to me. i mean, not everyone can be lee je hoon. and that's okay.

  • He’s only 37 and hasn’t even peaked yet. Men mostly peak in their 40s but I think it’s true for women too these days. Which is good to be honest.

    • Average people do not peak in their 40s... and it's super uncommon for even wealthy women to do so. Botox, fillers, etc just make them look like clowns.

  • He looks the same to me. But to be honest I was never a fan of his acting or visuals. To be fair, I haven't seen Pachinko.

  • He looks the same, but it's more about his hairstyle than his looks. Maybe if he didn't have long hair, he might still look handsome.

  • He is a 37 year old man that looks like he is a 37 year old man. Not everyone ages like Gong Yoo or Lee Je Hoon. I think its because he has aged right infront of the world from his Gu Jun Pyo character to somewhat average looking male star in comparison to others is why people are having a hard time. But he genuinely looks fine to me. It also doesn't help that he has always been more famous for his looks than acting. But I've heard he did pretty well in Pachinko so that shouldn't be an issue now.
