So I have no idea what happened but there is a change to one of the female actress leads in the K-drama Knock Off. Young actress Kim Shi Eun has dropped out and rookie actress Bang Hyo Rin has been cast in her role. Knock Off has already started filming so it’s a very interesting situation, and most recently happened in a much more high profile way when then rookie actress Park Hae Eun landed the high profile female lead role in the Hong Sisters drama Alchemy of Souls and started filming only to be replaced by Jung So Min after reportedly the production was not pleased with Park Hae Eun’s performance in the early shoots. These things happen so hopefully this is just a small blip for both Kim Shi Eun and the production of Knock Off.
This year 2024 has been a slow year for K-actress Suzy in terms of her…
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…
Well this is an interesting pairing, setting aside the age difference at least I can…
I swear I just wrote about Song Joong Ki having his first baby and then…
At the end of the day, the core of any good drama remains the Story,…
If I didn't know this drama was a romance set in space and done K-drama…

She’s actually not a lead in Knock Off so I wouldn’t consider it the same as AOS. She’s a part of the sprawling supporting cast and I think ppl just thought she was the lead due to the timing of her casting being right after KSH. I don’t consider it a big deal and highly doubt it will be affecting the schedule significantly. Anyway, good luck to the new actress and hope she can act because everyone else in this cast absolutely can.
Yeah it was interesting that her casting got announced before Jo Boa. But then again, so was YJM’s I think. In this specific case, casting sequence doesn’t seem significant.
Agreed. I think also they announced her to be the female lead initially. But with Kwon Nara and JBA added and with so many big players on the actors side, it was clear the character prob isn’t as important as we thought it to be. Definitely no similarities to Alchemy. That was the actual female lead being swapped out due to poor performance as per the production’s own words. I don’t remember how I felt at the time tbh, but when I think of it now, it feels a bit harsh.
Park Hae Eun went through auditions too before she got the opportunity only for it to be snatched away so humiliatingly. I still feel so sorry for her. Kim Si Eun didn’t go through auditions but then again it is not a big role in the first place. It’s a side character so this is a no-news news that probably had minimal affect overall. Someone said below but it’s a testament to the hype Knock off has right now that this news was even circulated.
You know, if her acting is as bad as hong suzu in the impossible heir, then the production team made the right call. TIH had many problems, bad script being one of it, but the acting of FL made it worse
@Yuhyi
True enough and I don’t question the decision exactly. More like I feel there was no real need to give a reason as to why she was being replaced. They could have handled the whole situation with a bit more diplomacy and empathy imo. As for TIH, not sure if they also held auditions and if they did… LOL. That drama was a mess tho and I only remember one thing from it before deciding my time is far more valuable - the second female lead. She was such a scene stealer.
She shares the same agency as KSH and I think their agency was trying to get her a big role in his drama. But there are two more established leading ladies in the mix so they may have backpedaled in the end. It happens, meh.
I’m so excited for this drama the only thing that would mar it is KSH backing out 😂
Tbh, I know neither girls lol. But a humongous drama for a rookie to debut in. She’s very lucky so hope she can capitalize.
I also never heard of the previous actress😅
Same! I have no clue as to who the girls are.
It's more interesting that she's in KSH agency. I wonder what happened.
Some people suppossing agency expected bigger role for her, and they were disappointed by her third male lead role. But I doubt it, they probably knew the script before accept it.
Maybe she got some better offer or bigger role at the same time, and they preferred it, or no, I don't know, will wait and see.
I liked Kim Si Eun a lot in Next So Hee and were looking forward to her in a drama. Knock off has some amazing actors and veterans and she could have benefited from learning through her sunbaes. Maybe her agency was expecting more screen time. But since she is not the FL or even the 2nd lead not to be dismissive but in the grander scheme Im more surprised the media even reported to the change. This drama getting so much coverage LOL
This is surprising as she is from KSH's agency I think she was cast as a package deal with him to give her some exposure so it's surprising she has now dropped out.
I can't find too much info about this new actress. This will be a big opportunity for her. She has worked in a couple of indie films and a couple of dramas in supporting roles and is 29. She looks much younger.
I was surprised to hear the change and even more surprised no reason was given even if it’s just the usual “schedule conflict” or whatever. No idea who the new actress is but I’m also not concerned because I’m now realizing it’s probably not as important a character as I initially assumed.
Maybe her screen time got significantly reduced after the other two actresses were added. It does seem odd that the “lead actress” of a drama is announced so late in the casting news.
Looking at new info about the cast seems her character one of the main leads
