I live for constant drama casting roulette because its fun to ponder potential pairings even if it doesn’t pan out. This past month has had a lot of discussion over the casting of the C-drama adaptation of Gu Man novel Blazing Sunlight. Names tossed around, rumors of stars vying for the lead, and now there is another two names rising to the top of the casting competition. C-ent is saying that Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai will be the leads which came out of nowhere for me, especially with Zhao Jin Mai currently filming modern romance Our Generation. If she accepts then this drama won’t start filming until late fall or early winter, and could even move into 2025 before production starts.
There are weird casting choices and this one is weird from both the leads itself…

Li Xian is still my top contender for Lin Yusen's character. Li Xian has that grounded maturity & quiet intensity that I associate with Lin Yusen.
Nie Xi Guang's character is still up in the air. I can see how Tian Xiwei & Zhao Jinmai can pull off her character but if Song Zuer didn't have that scandal, she'd be a fit. Is Guan Xiaotong available tho?
I feel like this casting makes more sense that the previously rumored combos.
I'm fine with Zhao Jinmai too. It's time for the 00'er actresses to shine.
The one and only chinese drama I watched was with Song Wei Long, so now I have sympathy to him as an actor and checking his casting news.

I used to love this novel so much. Especially book 1. But kinda disappointed with book 2. Still looking forward to the drama adaptation. Gu Mam used to cast popular actors... i'd love to see Xiao Zhan or Li Xian in this drama as our VP Lin. Zhao LuSi as our heroine Watermelon.
I'm really looking forward to this drama because, although Gu Man's novels aren't ground-breaking, they're cute; and most importantly, all of Gu Man's novel adaptations except "Boss & I" (i.e. Silent Separation, Love O2O, You Are My Glory) have stuck close to the source material, and that is my #1 wish and requirement for any book adaptation but is so rarely fulfilled.
Interesting...with exception to Boss & Me, I had no interest with any of the other dramas listed lol. Which means, I am prob not a fan of the author.
Love O2O was cringy AF to me, so I never got the hype. Then You Are My Glory, never watched because I am not a fan of the ML. Boss & Me was the only decent one of the bunch that I could stomach.
I've only seen "love 020" and "boss & I", but somehow the live adaptation for "boss and I" came out as a snoozefest in comparison to when I was reading the book.
He is an awful actor but she is good. I don't know if she can cover for his ineptitude though.
SWL is too young to play LYS's role. Needs an actor in their late 20's - early 30's.
I was actually surprised with this melon casting when I first heard it. I like it! SWL could be a hit or miss. They both look visually good together though!
Don't think this melon is right with Zhao Jin Mai as she already has another project (Wandering the Earth 3) waiting for her and will start filming after Cherry Amber.
