• I think Guo Jing Ming is also one that can be very bit*hy when he is annoyed. He is no different from Yu Zheng when they are messed around with.

  • Funny enough Yu Zheng said he wanted to work with JJY but he said JJY's schedule is filled till April next year.
    Its kinda ironic how many people said they hate her acting but she keeps getting cast despite her controversies. I guess traffic is everything in China.

      Then she has a free schedule to work with Yu Zheng.

      Yes traffic is everything in China. Having a drama with no traffic or popular leads won’t pay for the staff.

    • She doesn't have to choose. She can work with both. Yu Zheng said he'll definitely work with her recently cos he liked her role as Shangguan Zhi.

      Also while GJM's drama suck, his styling and makeup team is top notch. Even if it flops it's guaranteed to gain some sort of attention. With so many costume dramas flopping nowadays, there's no reason to drop this.

    • I agree...I read about how bad her acting is but she does keep getting cast. I dont enjoy her acting thus I dont watch her dramas. But it is clear she is not going away anytime soon.

• I know people criticised and accused Ju Jingyi of plastic surgery or whitish make up but I still watching JJY onscreen.

  I am not sure why Chen Du Ling is being treated as the best actress around and I find her looks are pretty mediocre. She must be having a powerful agent.

  The production team must have promised both actresses something or else they won’t sign up.

  I dunno the whole story but if I were to speculate….maybe they lied to JJY that she is gonna be the lead and after signing up CDL, they forced JJY to be the second lead. If it’s Yang Mi or Liu Shi Shi, then I am sure JJY would respect their seniority. But who is CDL?

  • Chen Duling may not be the best actress but she is far better and more respected as an actress than JJY. To even compare the two is laughable. JJY is one of the worst actresses of her generation.

    • Not a fan of Ju Jingyi either, but by no means does Chen Duling have a superior acting reputation. She's been mocked just as severely as JJY since her debut for bad acting. The only difference is that netizens hype CDL for being a natural/conventional beauty (according to their standards), STEM graduate, and at least trying to understand her characters despite lacking the talent, as opposed to Ju Jingyi, who basically just cosplays from set to set. Chen Duling is the equivalent of Kim Tae Hee in Korea.

  • JJY doesn’t act. She’s herself in every drama. She has a good eye for surgery and a good plastic surgeon though. All the work she’s done on her face definitely elevated her visuals. CDL isn’t going to be an award winning actress any time soon, but she at least has tried more variety of roles than JJY. At the very minimum, she managed to make me hate her in TTEOTM.

    • Her looks does nothing for me, she reminds me of a porcelain doll... But she does have a strong fanbase who look her looks. To each its own, most definitely

    • @HL she's not my type of beauty either. I was more saying that her looks improved from what it was before. She doesn't look like plastic surgery monster like some people who have gotten too much work done.

    • @Jia, no critisim for your comment at all. As I understand what you meant... before surgery, Ju Jingyi would not be where she is now.. Her surgery definitely helped her career..

  • Chen Du Ling can ACT that the difference,in terms of scoring dramas, it seems both have pretty much the same number, CDL had two dramas this year and two airing soon, the same with JJY.

    • I'm referring to how the appeal of both actresses are their good girl visuals and high education, whereas their acting has always been controversial. CDL doesn't have the same star power as KTH though, of course.

• None of them are strong actresses so I'm just going to sit and watch with popcorn in hand. Both have this overly cutesy/pouty esthetics as if they are going to cry and throw a tantrum. I like prettiness (Dilaraba for example) but esthetics alone can't keep me engaged in a drama.

• CDL want to be top billed? Are you nuts? At least ju jingyi are popular and has hit dramas on her hands.her acting are rubbish,yes,but her drama never tank.

    Yes I agree with you, how many endorsement deals CDL has? If one wanna argue that she should be top billed due to her talents then what’s her achievements? Is she getting recognized or awarded for any acting roles?

    And if one insists CDL is more popular than JJY, then what’s her traffic? And how many endorsement deals she has compared to JJY?

    I guess CDL’s side may insist on equal billing or even top billing which triggered JJY’s agency to act accordingly. Must be due to CDL’s agency taking a lesson from Chen Zhe Yuan billing saga, to elevate their status by suppressing their more popular co stars.

    CDL with no significant and memorable or popular lead roles getting hyped lately and to be favored by well known directors is actually quite strange…. I am curious, what’s so talented and unique about her?

  Honestly, I would appreciate a recast since I felt like both actresses weren't that suitable.

  • @Soph - There are other more positive C-ent news. It's just that Koala's blog highlights these controversies to push traffic to her blog. Nothing wrong with that as she also features casting and drama release news as well.

    • I'm sure there are more positive news but billing controversies are just too common in Cent. Just recently on Weibo I already see three major billing controversies for dramas that are bout to be filmed. Zhang Linghe vs Tian Xiwei. Zhang Jingyi vs Chen Zheyuan. This one is actually the most trivial one because its not really that confirmed yet; besides its more like a three-way fight which also involves Joseph Zeng.

• The only reason CDL is kinda well known right now is because she got stuck in Hengdian during the pandemic and was casted as in supporting or guest roles in a lot of dramas. JJY has a lot of shortcomings (acting, makeup, height) but she surprisingly has a lot of traffic, brand and fashion endorsements more than cdl so like it or not, top-billing should be hers.

    Thank you for the info regarding CDL. I agree with you that JJY should be given top billing based on her having more brand endorsement deals than CDL.

    I think many don’t understand that’s how the stars with the most endorsement deals would need to retain their top billing status.

    The same goes for Zhao Lu Si when she is paired up with much older male leads. Can those guys claim they have more endorsement deals than her? No. That’s why she gets top billings instead of her veteran co-stars.

  • I agree JJY has high traffic but I don't think she has any brand endorsements? Might be due to her old company or whatever but I don't think she's the ambassador of anything.
    Imo CDL lacks lead roles to prove herself, as most of her well known roles are supporting roles. If her upcoming drama The Glory does well she would be able to fight for equal billing.

  I really don’t understand what people see in her. She cannot act her way out of a cardboard box, always looks the same, and despite all the work that she had done on her face, the dark shadows of malnutrition under her eyes still shine through any makeup.
  Who wants to watch a painted clown on the point of starvation pretending to be an actress?
  There are many talented actresses with beautiful looks out there - pick one!
