So I’m still of the belief that much hyped but also much disappointing childhood first love drama Love Next Door was so frustrating in part because of how much the two leads bickered. She was too bossy and he never expressed himself that the viewers initially couldn’t feel why those two were fated to be together other than they grew up together and shared much history. Upcoming MBC Fri-Sat drama Motel California is also tackling the childhood first love grew up together trope but from the first teaser it hews much more closely to what seems to capture the fated aspect of this set up – namely how much the two leads Lee Se Young and Na In Woo enjoyed being friends and each other’s company growing up. I think its unnecessary the plot stuck him in a fat suit in high school but that aside I think the two leads are really well cast for the glimpses of personality shown.
